Part 7

Hayden's PoV

"These are for you Mrs olivar" I hand Marjorie the small bouquet of flowers that I bought for her on the way over here. "Hayden honey you shouldn't have. It's my way of paying you back for fixing that chair for me" she says as she takes the flowers from my hands and walks towards the kitchen to get a vase. " you fixed the chair" Noa barely whispers as she looks at me. "I did, the morning after I stayed over. Your mom has lots of jobs for me... so iv been told" I chuckle and follow Noa into the kitchen. Noa sits down and I sit in the chair beside her as her mom finishes up whatever it is that she's making. "Chilli. Hayden honey grab a bowl and help yourself there is loads so you better not leave here hungry" Marjorie passes me a bowl before passing one to Noa. "Thank you Mrs olivar this smells delicious" I look up at the woman with gratitude. "I told you already, you don't have to call me Mrs olivar, it's marjorie to you" she sits opposite me as we all fill our bowls with chilli. When I look over to Noa she looks really happy, I haven't seen that look on Noa in a long time. "Mom you didn't tell me it was Hayden that was your knight in shining armour" Noa says whilst looking at me smiling. "Can't give away all my contacts Noa. So you two how's school?" She asks us causing Noa and I to look at each other. "Well ... I may or may not have bunked off today. I wasn't feeling up to it, my girlfriend cheated on me with her ex so ... I avoided going to school and hung out with Imogen. But ... apart from that schools great" I grin at them both before scooping a spoonful of chilli in my mouth. This chilli is delicious. "Schools school mom, you know my dramas right now with Karen. Now I have Shawn to add to that pile" my ears pick up hearing what she mumbled about Shawn at the end. Marjorie looks at me and winks... then smiles and says "if Shawn gives you any grief then you tell me. Or tell Hayden, Hayden you'll look after Noa for me won't you?" She asks me whilst giving a knowing look. "I mean ... obviously I have your back. That's a given but why against your boyfriend?" I ask scooping another spoonful of chilli .... This chilli!! "Noa and Shawn broke up tonight" Marjorie replies nonchalantly whilst smiling at me ... as I choke. Like properly choke, Noa jumps up and starts hitting my back as Marjorie sits back in her chair eyeing me. When I can eventually breath again, Noa stops hitting my back and cups my cheek to look at her "are you ok?". She's looking down into my eyes and I know I'm looking right back into her with heart eyes "yeh I'm ok" I say ... barely. Then Marjorie coughs breaking out of our moment, causing Noa to sit back down. "Sooooo yes Shawn and Noa broke up... you and your girlfriend broke up too Hayden ..." she raises her eyebrows at me as Noa silently plays with her half eaten chilli. "Anyway, I'm going to watch a movie ... one you two won't like so why don't yous hurry along into Noa's bedroom and watch something. I can clean up" she begins to stand up with her bowl to walk to the sink. "Marjorie I can clean up. Please it's the least I can do. And I thought you had some things for me to fix for you?" I stand up a little panicked of the thought of being alone with noa. "Nonsense, come back tomorrow. Go have some chill time, sounds like you need it." She dismisses us both after Noa too tried to help with the dishes so we head to Noa's bedroom to watch a movie.

Noa's PoV

What's my mom doing? Tonight's just too confusing, first of all I finally break up with Shawn. I know I should have done it a while ago but honestly he gave me an excuse to stay away from Hayden. Then after that showdown with Shawn, my mom announces we have a dinner guest ... and that dinner guest is Hayden. Hayden who is standing beside me right now, who is also trying to help my mom with the dinner dishes. I don't know what's up with her tonight. I mean she never let Shawn who has been my boyfriend of three years call her anything other than Mrs olivar, but Hayden gets to call her Marjorie. Sweet Hayden who fixed my moms chair and wants to help out round the house. The way they interacted at dinner was just really cute, I can tell my mom has a soft spot for Hayden. As my friend though, not as my girlfriend... if Hayden even wanted that. We finally give in and make our way to my bedroom. I climb onto the bed and rest my back against the headboard, Hayden comes in and stands awkwardly at the door with her hands in her Jean pockets. I look at her and pat the spot beside me "are you gonna stand through the whole movie or you wanna sit with me?" I ask whilst biting my lip. It's like she's having an internal battle with herself before she nods and climbs on my bed sitting beside me. "What movie do you want to watch?" I ask her, pulling my knees up so I can wrap my legs around them. "Anything honestly, you can pick" she says giving me a quick smile before playing with her fingers again. "Dooo you still like Batman?" I turn my head towards her and smile. She laughs that soft laugh which makes me melt "only the Christian bale ones. Nobody and I mean nobody is a better joker than heath ledger" she smiles and leans her head back to look at me. "The dark knight it is then" I smile and nudge her shoulder with my own. We play the movie and for the first five minutes we comfortably sit and watch the movie .... That's until my mom comes to the door. "Guys I'm going to close this door over, all I can hear is your movie when I'm trying to watch mine and yeh it's distracting so I'm gonna close over the door" she smiles at the both of us which honestly just confuses the fuck out of me. She never EVER let me or Shawn close the door when Shawn, it'll just be because she doesn't think anything will happen with Hayden and I. "Ok mom" I smile at her as she creepily smiles at the two of us. She eventually closes the door and then a heavy tension fills the air. Not only is Hayden sitting so rigidly but I am too. Neither of us are comfortable watching this movie so instead of us sitting like this for the next three hours I man up and break the tension. "Hayden, you can get comfortable you know, I'm going to go get us some snacks so get comfortable" I say quietly too her and nudge her before climbing off the bed. When I pass the living room I see my mom sitting watching Mamma Mia... I love that movie. I choose to ignore my mothers strange behaviour this evening and grab the snacks from the kitchen before returning to the bedroom. When I enter my bedroom I see Hayden has skooched down further on my bed with her attention firmly on the movie. I climb back up onto the bed beside her and instinctually lie close to Hayden.
