Battle In The Sky

Sonic comes out of the time vortex and looks around the town, until he hears the bell go off. He looks up at the clock tower and sees the exact time when Elise dies onboard the Egg Carrier, which means he's gotta get Tails and Knuckles and get to the Egg Carrier now, before it's too late.

Eggman and Elise are currently sitting in the cockpit of the Egg Carrier as it starts taking off for the Chaos Emerald, although everyone's favorite blue hedgehog was right above it.

Sonic carried Elise through the Egg Carrier as it started to break apart from the inside out, until the front of the battleship was blown apart.

Elise: [Points to cliff] Sonic!

Sonic: [Light chuckle] Aren't you worried?

Elise: [Smiles and quotes him] "If you have time to worry, then run," right?

Pieces of the Egg Carrier blow apart and Sonic holds Elise tightly, runs off the part they're on and begins jumping from piece to piece. They eventually make it to the cliffside and Sonic reaches for the top, but just misses it. The two fall to the river, but soon get shot back up when an explosion goes off underneath of them. They roll over upon landing on the cliff and eventually come to a stop. Sonic looks over to Elise who lands face first, but then proceeds to turn and look up at the sky. Sonic walks over to her and brings his hand out, to which she takes and sits up. The two begin laughing out loud, enjoying the time they've had with one another.

Sonic: [Shoots thumbs up her way] Nice smile!

Sonic gives Elise a wink, and she gives him one too. It was fun being chased around by Eggman, but truth be told that it was more than just fun. Sonic and Elise had grown more than friends on this journey, and it was safe to say the two had the same feelings for one another.
