Love is a strange thing. It can consume you from the inside out. Butterflies flying around your stomach, your head feeling dizzy, and your heart beating to come out.
Love fills people with ecstasy, putting happiness into their lives. It's like your own personal motivation. Love can drive people to do almost anything for the ones they love.
Though that's the problem isn't it? Billy Loomis and Stuart Macher let their love for Aurora Bloom consume their entire being. As if Rory owned their mind, body, and soul. Doing inexcusable things to have her for themselves. Not thinking of the consequences or Rory's feelings; they did what they thought was out of love.
Love is a blessing and curse.
Rory snapped out of her thoughts when she heard her door open, revealing Liam walking inside. His face contorted to worry when he saw her trashed room. Things scattered around the floor, broken glass, even flowers that looked like they were torn apart.
What concerned Liam most was seeing his girlfriend in the corner of her room on the ground. Knees to her chest, hair disheveled as if her fingers ran through them for hours. Her tear stricken face was gazing up at him.
Liam walked around the mess and to his distressed brunette, crouching down to his knees to be eye level with her. "Rory, what happened?" His voice was soft, careful not to make her feel uncomfortable.
Rory didn't know how to explain that two people from her past were coming for her. The flowers were proof of that, which is why she tore them to shreds. Having a mental breakdown as she trashed her room once Chloe left.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, she murmured, "They found me..."
She felt her heart hammering in her chest as the tears welled up in her eyes again. Rory was scared, no, terrified of seeing the two people she's only seen in her nightmares and dreams.
Her emotions were all over the place. Part of her knew she should despise Billy and Stu for what they did to her friends, the town, herself. But there was this feeling deep down that missed them.
Missed the people she thought they were, missed the fun memories she shared with them. But how could she miss them knowing who they truly are—killers.
"Who? Baby, what's going on?" Liam's soft voice pulled her out of her dark mind. Feeling his hands cup her cheeks, his thumbs gently wiping away her stray tears.
"They, they found me."
With the way Rory's voice sounded frail as if she were scared, Liam figured out who she was talking about. His jaw clenching as he brushed her hair back that stuck to her wet face.
Liam felt this boiling anger that was bubbling in his stomach. Just the thought of those two made his jaw clench, but hearing his girl say that they were coming for her, that made him seethe.
They've been in hiding for two years and now they decide to show up. Liam wouldn't put it pass them to be behind the murders going on. More of a reason to stick by Rory's side.
"It's alright, it's okay." Liam whispered as he sat down beside her, wrapping his arms around her. "We'll figure it out."
Rory buried her head into his chest as she sobbed once again that night. Her words coming out broken and shaky. "How?...They're, they're unpredictable....I'm scared, Liam..."
Liam's heart broke for her. He could feel how scared she was. Her body shaking in his arms as she cried to him. Holding her tighter to help soothe her fears. "I know, baby. But I will doing anything in my power to protect you. I won't let them take you away."
And Liam meant it. He would put his life on the line for Rory. Do anything he could to make sure those two don't hurt her again. Do anything to make sure no one hurts his girlfriend.
Rory's sobs died down as she let Liam comfort her. She didn't know if she wanted him to put himself in danger just to protect her. She's lost too many people to take that risk.
Liam lifted her face with his finger under her chin, letting his eyes meet her glossy ones. Giving her a small smile as he tucked her hair behind her ear. "How bout you pack a bag and come stay in my dorm?"
Rory wasn't surprised by Liam's offer, but she didn't want to be a burden. She didn't want him to feel like he had to take care of her. "I don't want to be a bother. Plus, I don't think your roommate would like me being there."
"Rory, you are never a bother. And Jake wouldn't mind, he's barely there anyway. He's been hanging around his girlfriend's dorm lately." His thumb softly rubbed her cheek, his tone filled with nothing but love for her. "It would make me feel better knowing you're not sleeping here alone. Please stay with me."
Gazing into his eyes that she's grown to love. Liking how they were green. Not blue, not brown, but green. Like the forest that brought her serenity.
She nodded, agreeing to stay with him in his dorm room. Being in his arms, feeling something she hasn't felt in so long. That feeling of comfort, of protection, love.
"I love you." Rory softly admitted. Finally vocalizing how she felt, finally realizing she shouldn't be afraid of her feelings. She loves him and that's all that matters right now. To hell with her fears and worries. Liam made her feel secure.
Liam swore his heart stopped for a moment. Staring into her pretty brown eyes, as if it was just the two of them in the world. Cupping her face and pressing his lips against hers.
If he could choose one thing he'd like to hear before he leaves this world, it would be hearing Rory's sweet voice telling him she loves him. That's all he would ever need.
"I love you, my strong girl."
