When did life become so dark? Why is it that the universe decided to curse me out of the billions on Earth? Why can't I just have a moment of happiness? A moment where I'm a normal college student who's in love with her boyfriend, and parties with her friends?

"Rory? Are you alright?"

Liam's concerned voice sounded like it was miles away from her.

She had locked herself in the small bathroom, hands gripping the edges of the sink, and head hung low.

For the past thirty minutes, Liam's been trying to get her to come out, but the stressed girl refused to.

The second they had arrived at the hospital, Rory was glued to Randy's side until the nurses told her she couldn't go inside the operating room.

Randy was rushed into immediate surgery as Liam took his girlfriend to the waiting room. But after an hour, Rory couldn't sit still. She had rushed to the nearest bathroom and released anything that was in her stomach that morning.

Liam was quick to follow when he heard the vomiting noises from the other side of the door. But every-time he asked to be let in, Rory would just tell him to go away.

Even after her stomach was completely empty, she felt exhausted. Forcing herself to get off the sticky hospital floor. Splashing water on her face did nothing to ease the anxiety. And when she glanced up and saw her reflection, she crumbled.

Never ending tears streaming down her face as she finally noticed the crimson staining her shirt and hands. Rory was quick to scrub the blood away as best as she could as she also tried to keep her sobs from slipping past her quivering lips.

She scrubbed until her arms and hands were raw, and even then she still felt like her friend's blood was all over her. Her white shirt doing nothing to hide what happened.

Giving up sounded like her best option. With her head hung low and eyes shut tight, Rory couldn't stop herself from going back into a dark mindset. Something she's dealt with before, but now with everything and everyone around her going to shit, she felt defeated.

Coming to the decision that the universe didn't curse her, it cursed anyone close to her.

Casey, Tatum, Randy—people who come into her life don't walk out alive.

She was like the man that turned anything into gold, like the grim reaper, a poisonous flower. Rory was a young girl with heavy trauma that weighed her done, with the shadows of death following behind her—cursed.

"Rory, please come out...The doctor says he has news about Randy."

Liam's soft voice reached her ears and pulled her from her thoughts. Giving up on trying to fix her appearance, Rory finally opened the door to the bathroom.

The second Liam saw his girl, a little part of him broke. Seeing Rory with dull eyes, tear stained skin, hair disheveled, and their friend's blood on her shirt. It was such a heartbreaking sight to witness.
