★ THE MENTOR / THE TRIBUTE.━━━ A DEADLY PROMISE !
Jessup Diggs and Tulliana Volscian were trapped in a train cart for two days. When the doors finally did open, the two were surprised to see Lucy Gray Baird alongside a man dressed in the pretentious and loud colours only the capitol liked. Tulliana always believed it was the Capitol's way of hiding from the guilt of their crimes towards humanity, specifically the Hunger Games.
The man wore a pair of bright green pants alongside a lime green turtleneck, his hair naturally orange. Tulliana internally cringed at the choice of his attire and automatically assumed he was a lot more well off than the others and possibly within the fashion industry in the Capitol. Only they would wear something as ridiculous and toned death as the man was.
The man forcefully pushed Lucy Gray Baird into the train cart as well. Taking out a handkerchief to wipe the nonexistent dirt on his hand. Tulliana was disgusted at his behaviour but confused at Lucy Baird's appearance.
She was the one who volunteered, why would District 12 have two female volunteers? It made no sense, but Tulliana doubted anyone would care. "What are you doing here?" Jessup asked, Tulliana looked at Lucy Gray Baird who stayed silent as the door closed, leaving them in the darkness of the cage they were trapped in.
"I was selected, remember?" Lucy said.
"But I volunteered in your place." Tulliana voiced, furrowing her eyebrows as she curled up into Jessup's side once again and stayed deep in thought.
There was an uneasy silence among the three.
"Are we going to die?" Lucy asked, her voice cracking towards the end. Tulliana shot up and moved towards the sound, keeping her arms out just in case she bumped into anything or felt Lucy.
When she finally felt the girl, she stayed silent as she pulled Lucy in a hug. The singer stayed as she was, finding peace in the older girl's arms.
For the first time in Tulliana's life, she was unsure. Unsure of the world around her, and the consequences she would receive for her rash actions. She was unsure of her future, her fate if she would live or die. For the first time in Tulliana's life, she was not sure if she could protect the people she cared about.
As she stayed silent, she eventually heard the ragged breaths of the girl turn to long and slow ones. Lucy falling asleep had made Tulliana find some peace in the situation, after all. The poor girl was dragged into a situation she shouldn't have been a part of.
