Nafisa

"Amman tailor in nan Dan bura'uba ne" I cursed for the umpteenth time. Eid is in three days and we are traveling tomorrow, I have called him several time but he isn't picking nor is he returning my calls, I gave him my clothes 3weeks to eid and here we are not picking calls

"Hayati calm down, we will figure out what to do, Infact I will go to his shop after asr" Safwan tried to calm her, she has been screaming and raining insults for hours now

"Qalbi, this is so annoying. Do I have to fight with tailors every eid of my life?? I haven't offended anyone fa" I retorted angrily, I have been fighting with tailors All my life

"Toh maybe, you offended one old woman back then, and she chose to revenge this way" he spoke making jest of me

"You are so annoying" I admitted stomping my feet, I walked out of the living room as I kept calling the tailor , I promised myself not to call again, this wasn't the first time I was doing eid with out my cloth actually

I packed my luggage and qalbi's own too, we were traveling by road alongside my in-laws in their coaster bus. Have I ever mentioned how I love traveling by road? Yes I do so much because I get to see alot of things, tall trees, little children hawking either sugar coated tiger nut or sesame seeds and those Were my favorite snacks, they also sold boiled egg

Back then when we eat, we start farting in the car not knowing who did it, even though our journey never exceeded potiskum to maiduguri or Bauchi, I smiled relieving these memories, indeed we had a blissful childhood. I remembered how mamie and ummi will make snacks that we will eat in the car just so we don't buy some of this sweet stuffs, not sure if it was made hygienically, daddy will still get some for us. I do miss my Ummah so much, may Allah grant her jannah

My phone rang brining me out of my revive, it was my mamie who was calling, I smiled before sliding the answer button and placing the phone on my ear

"Assalamu alaikum mamie jambanduna( good day)" I greeted in fulfulde , mamie is a 52year old Fulani lady, with all the possible features fulanis are identified with, the fair skin and long black hair, pointed nose and curved eyebrows. She is really pretty, even though she has came of age she is still beautiful

"Walaikumu salam jam nafisa, just because you have married you forgot me completely. You don't even look for me, it's always your siblings you call, Allah sarki ba komai" she spoke, sadness laced in her voice

"Allah sarki mamie, walahi it's not like that, I have been very busy with work and other things that's why I don't call often, affuwan ya mamie" I explained myself, to be honest I don't call her much, sometimes I remember her and want to call And next minute it has slipped my mind

"Okay then, if you say so. How are you and your husband?" She asked

"Jam mamie, we are all good and I have a surprise for you" I spoke happily

"Masha Allah And what's the surprise" she asked, I could feel her happy voice compared to when she called

"Mamie I said surprise, don't worry. Just anticipate" I said keeping her in dark still, we spoke for almost an hour catching up, speaking about all that we have not spoken about in a while, I still didn't blurt out that I was coming tomorrow. We ended it when qalbi called for me

"Aunty you still Dey vex ne?" He teased when I came downstairs

"What is it? I am working inside" I retorted in annoyance, feigning seriousness

"Come on baby, don't get angry beside you have hundreds of cloths in your wardrobe that you haven't worn yet, just slay in them. Everything looks stunning when you wear it"
