"You there! Stop forcing terrible dreams on these people! Free them to return to their waking lives!" I scream, my hands clenched at my sides as the lady in front of me only smirks and tosses her silver hair with a dramatic flourish that instills confidence beyond measure.

"Sorry, but it's too late for that, my dear. They are already too deep in my dream... Enthralled by it. Crushed under it. And soon, you all will be as well." She looks at me oddly, "They don't call me Plumeria, the lewd dream, for nothing."

Flying higher in the cloudless sky of a dream, Plumeria fluttered her wings that were every color in the rainbow, and gestured to fight. I readily prepared my weapon alongside the two young royals of Askr, Alfonse and Sharena, and their army's experienced commander, Anna.

While I didn't usually mind battling anyone they proclaimed my enemy, something about the look in the fairy of nightmares' glittering crimson eyes made me want to stop. I knew it was all a trick, most likely, so I charged forward.

"Are we going to cross blades or not, dears?" She calls, placing a patient hand over her mouth and cackling. You know... she was very attractive for a villain. You'd think our enemies would be a bit more... foe-looking. Instead, they were all pretty and cunning fairies.

I snap out of my thoughts, recalling myself to the battlefield as Anna raises her axe and shouts, "Onward!"

Bounding forward, I don't hesitate to advance with my companions at my side. After several slashes of Alfonse's sword and a handful of stabs from Sharena's lance, Plumeria was already on her knees.

"Urgh... Filthy, vulgar... mortals..." She spat, rising to her feet on shaky legs despite her torn clothes and battered wings. Before I could get a word in for a response, she leaped into the sky with a scowl promising revenge.

"Hey, wait!" I call after her, and with a nod of confirmation from my traveling partners, we run after her.

Anna says, keeping up with my rushed pace, "We'll split up, yeah?"

"Got it!" I reply, and everyone branches off. Soon, I'm pushing past tree branches and other shrubbery as I brave the words nearby.

The enormous trunks are almost walls that surround me, and the canopy of leaves overhead obscures the very sky, making it dim and sending goosebumps down my arms.

I didn't want to call out for her, since letting my location be known probably wouldn't be the best. Instead, I silently continue on, cautiously scanning the shadows for any flicker of movement.

"I want to be loved... needed... Isn't that what everyone dreams of?"

The whisper is so soft I almost thought I'd misheard it. The second the voice registers in my brain, dashing through the woods and breaking into a clearing where the silver-haired lady stands alone.

"Plumeria?" I ask hesitantly as my rushed pace slows to a stop.

She whirls around, gaze locking on mine. Tears cling to her scarlet eyes and she is quick to wipe them away when she realizes my staring.

"Go away." She growls, taking a step backward. "We can fight another day. Just... go." For once, her taunting grin was nowhere in sight. Her usually proud and arrogant posture slumped and quivering.
