"Hurry up!" I shouted holding my stomach, attempting to decrease the horrible pain I was feeling.
My dad turned to face me, "I'm going the speed limit!" He shouted back, slightly increasing the speed.
"Fuck the speed limit! Hurry up!"
"No, I'm not getting a ticket because of you."
"Are you serious right now? I'm about to give birth!" I shouted, hoping he was just joking and that a ticket wasn't truly more important to him than his grandchild.
"I'm very serious."
"You're unbelievable." I spat underneath my breath but I know he could heard me clearly.
I wanted to push the matter further but the pain in my stomach grew even more unbearable forcing me to let out a grunt of pain and grip onto my thigh to hold back any further sounds from escaping my lips. My dad got quiet as well and focused on driving.

"Mrs. Whelan," My midwife spoke, taking her seat in between my legs.
The past two hours have been filled with constant pain along with nurses scurrying in and out of the room checking on me ever so often.
"Mrs. Whelan, it's time for you to push," My midwife spoke once more, this time her words gathered my attention forcing me to sit up and give her a scared look.
"What? I-I'm not ready yet!"
"Your babies are though and the longer you wait the more intense the pain will get."
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I took a deep breath mentally preparing myself. I turned to face my dad only to see him grabbing his things and walking towards the door to leave the room.
"Where are you going?!" I shouted at him.
"I'm leaving." He responded blankly, placing his hand on the doorknob.
"No wait...Dad! I'm scared..."
"I'm so scared...please don't leave me. I-I can't do this alone," I pleaded, outstretching my hand for him to grab it. He wavered for a split second before placing his jacket on the chair and grabbing my hand, squeezing it tightly.
"Alright, Seashell, I'm here...you can do it!" He spoke.
Flashback: 20 years ago, Catherine is 5
"Mom! Dad! Look!" I shouted, looking out the window of my parents beach house. Both of my parents kneeled down and placed their hands on my shoulders.
"Look at the seashell, it's the prettiest one yet!"
I gleamed, excited to show my parents my discovery."You're right Catherine, it is gorgeous," My mom softly smiled, "Do you want to add it to your collection?" She finished speaking, taking my hand into hers.
