A week has flown by and despite Sy telling us to not to do anything, Emy and I made the decision to go against that. Its not that I dont believe in Enzo and the others, I just dont want to be a sitting duck. I have to try, we've come to far not to.
Tonight was only a start, we decided to find an escape route. This place was made nearly a century ago and has so much ancient architecture — for instance the tunnels. Theres three tunnels in the manor and I have no doubt that one leads outside, so we find the tunnel and the rest is easy. Well for the most part, Sergei has around the clock guards and the only chance we have to be out of his sight is during the night, which is impossible because he's a light sleeper and the smallest movement wakes him.
"Im getting tired," I whispered to myself. My hands harshly crushed the sleeping pills in the bag using a rolling pin. Though its not enough to kill Sergei, it'll put him in a deep sleep, given the tests we've done two pills made Emy sleep six hours more than usual and five for me.
So with that in mind we decided to give Sergei our entire remaining stash, seven pills. When the pills were finely crushed I quickly cut a hole into the bag and slipped it into my sleeve. Now all I needed was to manage a way to slip the pills into his food. Emy cleared her throat and walked towards the chef, wrapping her arm around him and preventing him from turning to see me. I mouthed a thank you to her and ran into the kitchen. Our food plates were already finished and only needed to be served.
Any minute less and I would've missed this opportunity. I walked towards Sergeis plate and moved the bag so the small clumps of pills would easily fall into his food, stirring his pasta every time I dumped a decent amount of the pill residue.
"Miss Catherine?" A soft voice spoke from behind me. Not now! Im almost done. I quickly shuffled and turned to face the man who was behind me. He was wearing the standard butler uniform, which was shocking because I'd never seen him before and I swear I've seen everyone in this manor. I made sure to so I could determine who'd turn a blind eye to anything I did to harm Sergei and who wouldn't.
"What are you doing in here? You're not allowed!" He said, shouting the last part. No, no shut up! I quickly ran to him only for him to back away, "Serg-" he started to shout out but was shut up by me shoving my hands over his mouth.
"Hush, will you!" I whispered. He tried to yell but it was completely muffled by my hands. I swallowed my saliva harshly and used one of my hands to grab a knife from the nearby rack.
"Listen to me!...I don't want to hurt you...but I will!"
At the sight of the knife in my hand and the expression on my face, he calmed down, comforting me enough to remove my hand from his mouth, "Im sorry if I startled you," I said. He only nodded in fear.
"Please...dont tell Sergei I was here...I only came to add salt to my food before it was served." I lied, "Sergei would hurt the chef if he saw me doing that, so I..."
