Taken aback, Y/n raises a brow as she eyes Devon suspiciously.

"What do you mean?" She asks in confusion, wondering where the hostility is coming from. Rashad observes the new black haired person that walked up, seemingly knowing Y/n. His expression strained with bafflement at the anger radiating off of the angry man.

"Exactly what I said. Where were you?" Devon stops his nails from digging into the table as he glares daggers, his teeth gritting as his mouth shuts, awaiting a response. She continues to stare in disbelief.

"Um, why do I need to explain anything to you?" She questions, genuinely wondering why he cares in the first place.

"Don't play with me right now, Y/n. You're the one who left my house without letting anyone know when we have illegal shit in my home. Anything happens to one of us, then I'm at fault." He hisses.

She sighs, "Look, I didn't mean to scare anyone. I literally just walked to my place and then came here to eat." She holds her hands up in surrender, hoping to get him off her back.

"Yeah, well you did. Sara has been calling you and you never answered or anything. You could've sent a text too."

"Wait, what?" She grabs her phone, checking her notifications she immediately reads the five missed calls.

"Me and Rashad have been talking so I haven't been paying attention to my phone. I'm sorry for not answering." She says, forehead leaning against her hand as she stares at him.

Devon's expression softens swiftly before switching to a mild scowl. He leans back and crosses his arms.

"We'll talk more about it later tonight."

Later tonight? We haven't made plans.

            "I already have plans."

Devon raises an eyebrow and says, "No you don't."

Realizing that he thinks she's lying again, she began to explain further, but Rashad beat her to it.

"Yes, she does. I offered her to hang out with my crew tonight. Sorry, dude." He stated nonchalantly.

Devon keeps his eyes glued to hers and continues to ignore the other's presence. Silence strikes for a moment before he straightens his posture and releases the table.

            "We'll talk about it tomorrow."

Before she can respond, he walks away. Rashad whistles before laughing.

"Damn, boyfriend?" She immediately shakes her head.

"Definitely not. More like a friend of a friend. I only just met him almost a week ago. Went to a party to meet up with someone else and he introduced us along with their other friends."

"Tough crowd I see." He responds.

"Meh, not all of them. Really just two of them but other than that, it's been okay. I'll have to introduce you to Carter one day at least. He's the chillest guy I've ever met." She explains, taking a bite of her cold food.

"Fair enough. I'm sure we'll have more chances. Anyway, I gotta get to class so I'll see you later. Meet us at the park that's like right beside the school. I should get out of class at like four." He informed, gathering his bag and wrapping the strap around his shoulder.

"Okay, bet." She responds, continuing to eat her food as he walks away. Once he was out of sight, she finishes her plate and chugs her water. She stands from her seat holding her trash and tosses it into the nearest bin. Grabbing her bag she walks toward the exit, typing an apology to Sara's missed calls.

Y/n walks to her car as she decides to stop at her apartment to grab her rolling supplies for the park.
