"Treated her like what exactly?" Amie challenged. "Nothing she didn't deserve for what persona she puts out."
"What do you mean by, 'persona she puts out,' huh? Don't you think you're overly judgmental?" You spit out, irritation growing at the insult towards your friend.
Amie rolled her eyes before huffing and standing to her feet. She walked until she stood in front of you with a stern expression plastered on her face.
"Let's be honest here, Y/n..." she begins before Carter cut her off.
"Amie, shut up. Y/n, c-."
"No." You hold your hand up, "...no I wanna hear what she has to say." Your eyes narrow at the girl whose frown formed into a smirk.
"Yeah, Carter. Let's get everything out in the open, shall we?"
"Amie..." Kalen says, his eyebrows furrowing as his tone deepens, repositioning himself to sit upright with his arm still connected to the sofa's chair.
She turns her head to meet Kalen's gaze, his firm look shooting an unseen shiver down her spine before she turns back to look at you. Scowling she shakes her head.
"If you want to be associated with impecunious, scummy beggars then be my guest, but don't bother bringing those kind of people around me. Especially when you act as though you're on the same level." She growled before stomping off into the direction of her bedroom, Sara following behind her figure.
You stood for a moment with your slightly trembling limbs and released a curse before heading to the hall to make your way back to the guest bedroom, fists tight by your sides.
"I got this." Devon said to the two men who almost shot out of their seats to follow you. When he walked into your bedroom, he watched as you shove your clothes back into your duffel bags. Snatching any of your belongings nearest to you and shoving it inside the gaping sacks. Swallowing his amusement, he walked closer until he stood in front of your bent form, next to the bed.
"Y/n." You ignore him, continuing to pack your bag as you toss and shove your items into the bag.
"Don't ignore me." He demands before grabbing your wrist and pulling you to face him. You eye him angrily before using your free hand to shove his chest.
"Back up. I wouldn't want to dirty you up with my poverty stricken hands." You murmur before attempting to pull your arm away from him, only to be stuck in his tight grip.
"Hey, focus on me." He says, using his other hand to take your chin and move your gaze to his.
"Don't mind Amie, okay? She's just high maintenance." He chuckled, releasing your chin.
"That and a bitch. There's no excuse for how she acted towards my friends or even me. She doesn't even know my them." You respond with a pout. He sighs before rolling his eyes.
"Okay, well calm down for now..." he loosened his grip on your wrist but doesn't release, "...take a breath or whatever and chill out. You don't have to leave."
"You need to tell her to calm down. I'm gonna go and stay with one of my friends." You state, pulling your arm out of his hand before you continue packing. He stood there for a moment, blank faced as he watched you complete the process.
His vision blurred out as he seemed to have lost consciousness though his eyelids still open as he balanced himself on the floor. A ringing sound blurred out the echo of you zipping both of the duffel bags. He came back to reality as he glared at your leaving figure.
When you passed the living room you were surprised to see the room empty until you realized that the rest of them must've followed Amie. You continue to make your way out the door and on the nearest sidewalk to make a stop at your apartment to get your car.
After setting your bags in the trunk of your car, you close the top and walk around to the driver's seat.
Considering you had backed into the parking spot when you parked it, you were able to make a straight-shot out of your complex. Once you were about to reach the hill leading down to the busy roadway, though when you decided to step on the brake pad, the car wouldn't halt. A wave of anxiety shot up your body as your eyes widened.
No matter how many times you slammed down with your foot, the car continued to accelerate down the hill. Tears streamed down your face as you rocked back and forth, arms trembling as your grip tightened on the wheel, crying out in pure terror. The seatbelt locked your body to the seat just as you reached the bottom of the hill. You gasped just as your car dashed through the road, surpassing the cars who honked and slammed on their brakes in time. Reflexively snatching your wheel to the left as well as with screeching tires, the side of your car slammed into the thick tree grown from the ground of the ditch across the road.
