As I walked up to the house, I had told myself to stop crying and I tried to clean myself up the best I could. I walked into the house and walked directly into my room to actually get ready for the day.
As I walked in, Matt was laying on my bed on his phone. When he noticed I was there, he put his phone down and looked at me. I was a mess. I'm sure the makeup that I still had on from yesterday was horrible and I was wearing a super long sweatshirt with yoga pants.
I just ignored his staring and started getting ready. I did my makeup first and then put n my comfy day outfit which was a nice black sweater with some dark jeans.
I walked out of the bathroom and Matt was already changed. He looked up from his phone and stood up holding his hand out for mine. I was a little confused on what he was doing, but I trusted Matt not to kill me.
We walked out of the house and I was still confused about where we were going. We just walked into the downtown area and went to the cafe that has been there since I was like 2.
We walked in and sat at a table for 2 and the waitress came over and I was about to tell her what I wanted but Matt ordered for bot of us. The only reason I didn't hit him was because he ordered what I was about to order.
"So what did you do while I was gone?" I asked him curiously.
"I just about died. I almost started crying." He said trying to act all serious, but failed. "I could barely walk. It hurt really bad, but I'm alive." He said as he started laughing.
"Good. I went over to Bailey's and we expected you to come after me but you never showed. I thought I might have killed you, so I came home." I said smiling.
"You came straight home?" Matt asked. I wasn't going to tell him I went to the lake. He would pity me and god I hate when people pity me.
"Yeah, can right home." I said, still smiling.
Just as he was about to say something, the food came. Thank god for food. I didn't really feel like being bombarded with questions on why I was lying to him. We sat there and enjoyed out brunch quietly. It was nice though. After we were finished, Matt went up to pay and we walked out of the cafe.
"Can we just stay home today? Like a movie day?" I asked with my pouty face.
"You know I can't say no to the pouty face!" Matt said.
"I know, that's why I use it all the time. Lets get popcorn from the store." I said running into the supermarket.
I said hi to a few of the people I knew that worked there and went off to find the snack section. Matt was following close behind, but by the time he got to the isle, I already had everything I wanted; extra butter popcorn, some hot cheetos, my Starbucks frappuccino drink and some soda for Matt. He just gave me a surprised expression, shrugged his shoulders and walked to the checkout stand. The lady was ringing us up and Matt went to pay when the lady said, "Nope, it's on the house."
"I can pay, it's okay." Matt said trying to change her mind.
"Matthew, I said no. Now take your stuff and get out of here." She responded with a smile.
"Thank you so much. I'll see you around." I said as we were gathering our things.
We walked home and had a conversation about absolutely nothing. Just stupid things that we saw on the side of the road.
We finally made it back to the house and went to my giant movie collection in my room. I told Matt to pick out the movie because I really didn't care.
As I was getting everything ready, Matt put the movie in, turned off the all the lights and we both made our way to my bed.
Then I realized what movie he put in. The Conjuring. I forgot I even had that movie. I hated scary movies. I can never sleep after I watch one. I ended up scooting closer and closer to Matt and I just hear him chuckle because he knows I can't stand horror movies. I finally reach his side and then something scary pops up and I scream and grab onto him, shoving my face into his chest.
"Calm down, Layla. It's just a movie. Nothing is going to happen to you." Matt said, his eyes still glued to the screen.
I screamed every time something popped up and held Matt even tighter. Then when the movie ended, I had Matt go put in a different movie. And he chose The Little Mermaid, my all time favorite movie.
When Matt came back, I was still scared so we cuddled a little bit and then felt myself falling asleep. I'm pretty sure that Matt thought I was asleep because I heard him say,
"God, Layla. I know you are trying your best to hide that it hurts you, but when you came home this morning and your makeup was all ruined, I knew you had been crying. God, I... I just love you so goddamn much and I wish I could take away all of that pain you feel. But sadly, I can't." He said as I felt him kiss my forehead.
Did Matt just say that he loves me? There's no way Matt loves me. He could have any girl in school and he chooses me.
