Manisha woke up early in the morning to the sound of birds chirping outside her window.

As she stretched her arms and yawned, she noticed Abhishek standing in front of the mirror, meticulously combing his hair. It was as if he had been ready for hours.
A smile instantly formed on Manisha's face as she watched him.

"Good morning, ma'am," Abhishek greeted her with a warm smile. "Aapko neend aa gayi thi. Kal aap bahut bechen thi"

Manisha chuckled, realizing that Abhishek had noticed her restlessness. "Sach batau toh pehle neend nahi aa rahi thi itni thand thi phir kuch aisa hua ki meri zindagi ki best neend ayi"

Abhishek looked down, a tinge of blush spreading across his cheeks. "Acchi baat hai maam. Achi Neend toh bahut zaroori hoti hai"

As they exchanged morning pleasantries, Abhishek informed Manisha that he had to leave for work. Pointing towards a water can, he said, "paani waha par rakha hai aur kuch bhi chahiye hoga toh Gupta ji ke ghar chale jana waha se mere dhaba par call kar dena"

Manisha interrupted him, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Actually, Abhishek ji, mere paas phone hai!"

Abhishek looked surprised. "Sacchi mei? Toh mujhe call kar dena kuch bhi chahiye ho toh"

Manisha pouted, feeling a hint of sadness. "Par mat jaiye na Abhishek ji. Main aapke bina kya karungi?

Abhishek smiled affectionately, touched by Manisha's words. "Merko ghar chalana hai maam. Isliye kaam karna padega par agar aap bore feel karo toh yaha par kuch acchi aunties hai unse baat kar lena"

Manisha couldn't bear the thought of Abhishek leaving, so she walked up to him and enveloped him in a tight hug. Abhishek was hesitant at first but soon hugged her back, relishing the warmth of their embrace.

Giggling, Manisha teased him, "Dhyan rakhna pati dev

Abhishek's eyes widened in surprise. "Pati dev?!"

Manisha blushed, realizing her slip-up. "Arre haan buddhu bhool gaye hum pati aur patni hai?

With smiles on their faces and a touch of sadness in their hearts, Manisha and Abhishek bid each other goodbye. As Abhishek walked out the door, Manisha closed it behind him, a sense of happiness and longing lingering in her thoughts.

Now Manisha had never been so bored and hungry in her entire life. It seemed like the universe had conspired against her on this particular day. She didn't even know how to cook to fend off her nagging hunger. As time dragged on, her frustrations grew, and her stomach grumbled louder.

Determined to do something about her predicament, Manisha dragged herself to the kitchen in search of any remnants of edible food. To her surprise, she found not one but two neatly prepared meals, one for breakfast and one for lunch. A smile slowly formed on her face as she realized that Abhishek, her love, had prepared these meals for her.

Manisha couldn't help but feel a warm glow of appreciation for Abhishek.

It was heartwarming to know that even in his absence, he made sure she was well taken care of. She eagerly dug into the breakfast meal, savoring each bite as she relished in the flavors Abhishek had prepared.

Yet, despite the delicious food, Manisha couldn't shake off her longing for Abhishek's presence. To distract herself from her yearning, Manisha grabbed her phone and mindlessly scrolled through social media, hoping to find something interesting to fill her time.

But even as she mindlessly swiped through countless posts and updates, she couldn't shake off the feeling of emptiness within her.

Realizing that her attempts at finding entertainment were futile, Manisha made a decision. She put her phone down and decided to put her energy into something productive instead. She decided to clean her home, taking time and care to make it spick and span

When evening approached, Manisha stood back, admiring her sparkling clean home. Although her boredom and hunger had subsided, she couldn't push away the yearning for Abhishek any longer.

She missed his embrace, his laughter, and his warmth.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door, and Manisha's heart skipped a beat. She hesitantly made her way to the door, not knowing who could be standing on the other side.

As she opened it, she found herself face to face with a group of ladies dressed in old sarees. One of them, with a warm smile, asked, "kya aap Abhishek ki wife hai?"

Manisha nodded nervously, her mind racing with thoughts of the secret she was hiding. She invited the ladies into the room, her eyes wandering across their curious stares. She was, after all, Abhishek's pretend wife.

The group of ladies settled on the floor, and Manisha found herself being analyzed by their discerning gazes. Rameela Aunty, the eldest among them, spoke up, praising Abhishek as a good boy who always helped everyone. Manisha felt a mixture of pride and uncertainty building within her.

As the evening progressed, Manisha found herself engaged in a lively conversation with the ladies. They introduced themselves as family friends and shared anecdotes about Abhishek's childhood. Manisha's initial apprehension slowly faded away, replaced by genuine warmth and affection

Several hours passed, and Sarla Aunty suggested that they leave to prepare for dinner. Turning to Manisha, she inquired about the menu for the evening. Manisha hesitated, her lack of culinary skills evident, and confessed, "woh main raat ka khana nahi banati hoon. Woh Abhishek ji banate hai sab kuch. "

To her surprise, the room fell silent. The aunties exchanged bewildered glances before Meena Aunty exclaimed, "Tum khana nahi banati apne pati ke liye? Yeh saare patni ke kaam hote hai!"

Manisha felt a pang of self-doubt. Was she failing as a wife? Was she not meeting Abhishek's expectations? She gathered her courage and replied,"woh Abhishek ji kehte hai ki woh sab kuch khud kar lenge. Sabzi bhi wahi laate hai. Woh kehte hai woh sambhal lenge sab kuch."

Sarla Aunty playfully smacked Manisha on the back of her head and chuckled, "bitiya yeh saari cheeze patni karti hai apne pati ke liye. Ab tum bhi karo. Hum patniyan issi tareeke se toh apna pyar dikhati hai. Abhishek ko bhi khushi hogi. Yeh sab ab tum kara karo."

The aunties left, content with their conversation and reassured by Manisha's confession. However, a question lingered in Manisha's mind, leaving her feeling unsettled. Am I not fulfilling my role as a good wife? The thought weighed on her, challenging her perceptions and forcing her to evaluate her identity as Abhishek's partner.
