Zack's pov

I stood outside Sebastian's house, my body drenched by the rain and my clothes soaked.

The rain poured relentlessly, dripping all over my body.

Sebastian walked out of his house, his face was etched with concern as he approached me.

Don't tell me she's gone.

"Serena's not here. " he said, his voice revealing worry.

Serena...so that's the her name.

"She must've escaped." I said. Feeling worried that she could tell others about our existence and putting us in great danger.

I reached out to the pack, opening the mind link and urgently seeking information. "The human girl is gone. Has anyone seen her?" I asked with authority.

Rapid responses flood my mind, indicating she fled into the woods, driven by fear.

Closing the mind link, a heavy weight settles within me.

"We need to go find her. " Sebastian insisted urgently.

"No, not we. You'll be staying here." I said sternly.

Sebastian growled in protest, "No I'm going." Ignoring my directive, he began to walk.

I grabbed his arm, pulling him back. "You need to stay, in case she comes back. I can handle this."

The truth was, I knew she wouldn't come back. But I'm not sending him out there. He can't think straight when he's around her.

Sebastian was hesitant, but after a few glares he nodded, accepting it. I summoned a few men from the pack and they came and shifting into their wolves.

"Find her." I commanded my voice with a mix of determination and concern. They nodded, sprinting off into the forest.

The rains started to get heavier, making the search for Serena even more challenging.

I looked back at Sebastian before shifting into my wolf and joining the search.

Running at full speed, I felt the mud underneath my paws. The cracking of branches beneath my weight echoing the turmoil within.

I struggled to catch even a lingering trace of her scent in this storm.

After what felt like an eternity, I picked up on her scent. However, it is accompanied by another scent-blood.

I howled, signalling my pack that I had found her, the urgency of the situation etched in my howl.

I followed Serena's scent through the dense woods, each step heightening my anxiety. A palpable fear lingering , growing as I neared her location.

I came to a sudden halt, my heart sinking at the sight. Serena laid in the mud, her body battered, adorned with wounds, and soaked in blood.

I noticed the absence of a heartbeat, the stillness of death casting a sombre pallor over the scene.

Transforming back into my human form, I approached her with a heavy heart.

Examining her lifeless form, I observed the remnants of the struggle she endured.

Torn clothes cling to her, revealing deep bite marks- signs of a wolf's aggression.

It's clear she fought back, the mud beneath her bearing silent witness to the desperate struggle for survival.

This scene evoked a haunting memory. A memory, I wished I'd never had to experience again.

My heart hammered against my ribcage, my breathing became uneven and I clenched my fists as the pain resurfaces.

My men arrived quickly and a heavy silence descended as they stared at Serena's lifeless form.

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what lies ahead. Gently, I lifted her body, surprised by the lightness.

I cradled her in my arms, her blood stained my body, a stark reminder of the fragility of life.

Her stillness weighs on me, and each step echoed with the absence of her heartbeat.
