Zack's pov

With boiling anger I stormed out of Sebastian's guest room. The scent of fear lingering in the air as I walked away.

Sebastian's interference angered me. I've always respected his protective nature, but she's human, why couldn't he understand that. There's no reason to protect her, when she's our enemy.

My impulse to harm her clashed with a strange force compelling me to restrain, leaving me unsettled.

The house echoed with my growls as I paced. My wolf demanded dominance and respect and he wanted nothing more than to protect his pack.

Unable to contain the inner storm, I stepped outside. Shifted into my black wolf and sprinted into the woods.

The world blurred for an instant and I focused on the sensation of grass and twigs beneath my paws as I ran.

I kept running, to release the anger within me. The air whispered secrets, and with each bound, I shed the burdens of humanity.

After a few minutes, my wolf finally calmed down and I stopped, turning back.

I shifted back into my human form, standing completely naked.

The pack house loomed in the distance, Lindy, a she-wolf, stood outside waiting for my return.

Her presence added an unexpected layer of tension as her eyes bore into mine.

She smelled the human. They all must've.

As I silently chastised myself, I met Lindy's eyes and saw the look she had. The same one she always have, a look of authority.

She's not my beta, but acts like she is and it annoys the shit out of me.

The pack depended on Sebastian and me, their alpha's, to protect them but my brother has a weak spot for fragile and helpless creatures. The complete opposite that's expected of an alpha.

What's worse, we're the last pack left, since the war and I'll do anything to protect it.

"Alpha," Lindy's voice cut through the air, a reminder of the responsibilities that weighed on my shoulders.

Her respectful greeting held an undertone of expectation, urging me to confront the consequences of my actions.

Fuck. I should've never let Sebastian bring her here.
