Mysteries Abound

As Sora and Lyric swap places with other trainers in the camp and met up in one of the tents.

Sora: I thought Ike was past his whole "solo act" phase, but I guess I overestimated him.

Lyric: Sometimes Reese gets tunnel visioned and forgets things, she's a birdbrain like that. So I'm not surprised she forgot her radio. But I didn't think she'd run off alone.

Sora: And then there's these guys...

Sora turns his head to the strange Pokémon they just caught.

Sora: What are these things?

Lyric: I dunno... But my guys are kinda cute, right?!

Lyric runs over to his crawling Volcarona and hugs it. It lets out a gentle purr, and is actually more docile now.

Lyric: Hehehe...! I'm gonna call you Saileen. Get it? Sail?

The robot Volcarona buzzes over to Lyric and nudges him, seeming to want attention as well.

Lyric: Oh! And I'll call you Horus. And you!

Lyric turns to the Salamence like Pokémon.

Lyric: I'll call you Prime.

Sora sighs as he looks at the three he caught.

Sora: I suppose since I caught you guys, I might as well care for you. Bigglepuff is now Freddie, Robo Birb is Comet, and Gardelade there is now Mirei.

Lyric: Alright, I think that's enough messing around. We need to find Ike and Reese.

Sora: Yeah, I agree. But we can't just leave the people here...

Skyla: You don't have to worry about that.

Skyla walks up to the two boys and winks.

Skyla: I can handle things here while you guys are gone. You can count on me!

Sora: I suppose you're right. Alright. Thanks Skyla.

He says and bows, then heads off to where Ike went. Lyric, a bit confused, did the same, but walks in the opposite direction, where Reese was stationed.

The pair rush around like a couple of headless Torchic, eventually running down into what seemed to be a crystalline cave system. Entering from different sides, they bump into each other, a bit confused.

Sora: You came down here too?

Lyric: Uh, yeah, I guess so. Did you find Ike? Or Reese?

Sora: Nah, not yet. But I tracked Ike's heavy boots and the prints came down here.

Lyric: We really are similar when it comes to thinking... I did the same. But I didn't find them, just more of those weird Pokémon.

Sora: You too, huh? Well, let's head deeper down and find them.

Lyric only nods and follows behind Sora as he started running along the path in the cave.

Lyric: Hey, isn't it weird that there's a well maintained path down to the depths?!

Sora: What do you mean?!

Lyric: Well, I noticed that there was a building up on the higher levels! There might have been people here!

Sora: Interesting...! A research team, maybe?!

Lyric: I think so!

???: GRRAAAHH!!

A Pokémon cry could be heard. Two of them, even.

Lyric: What was that?!

Sora: No idea! But whatever it was, we're getting closer to it! Let's keep going!
