Battle! Champion Nemona

The time has come for the final battle for this tournament. Lyric had constructed a team of six that he felt was his best bet against Nemona. He even picked out a perfect counter pick for Nemona's whole team, which he figured out from watching her matches in the A Block. With his team prepared, Lyric and Nemona step up to their battle positions.

Lyric: Thank you for this opportunity.

The short boy bows. Nemona seemed a little confused, but smiled.

Nemona: Hey, it's no problem. I'm surprised you actually beat Florian, but I'm always excited to battle. Anyone, anytime, anywhere!

Nemona smiles as Lyric stands up straight again.

Clavell: If both trainers are ready, the battle may begin!

Nemona: Here we go! You're up, Lycanroc!

Nemona's first Pokémon was her Midday Lycanroc. Makes sense. She used this good girl to set up Stealth Rocks against Sora and win.

Lyric: I'm in it to win it...! Ultron, it's showtime!

Lyric's first pick was his Shiny Metagross. He didn't use Ultron in this tournament at all, so Nemona was pretty surprised by its sudden appearance.

Nemona: Not a bad looking Pokémon...!

Lyric: Oh, he's only going to get better! Cuz I'm pulling out all the punches with this one!

Lyric curls some of his hair behind his left ear, showing off his Mega Earring with a Keystone.

Lyric: Let our wavelength become one...! Synchronize, and become faster, stronger, better! Beyond evolution! Mega EVOLVE!!

Lyric's keystone and Ultron's Metagrossite begin to shine as three beams of light link together. Ultron's body began to shift and lift off the ground. Its legs are twisted to face forward as the light soon fades and reveals Ultron's Mega form.

Nemona: Woah...! So this is Mega Evolution...! I can't wait to see it in action!

Lyric: Ultron, use Bullet Punch!

Nemona: Oh that's not good...!

In the blink of an eye, Ultron closes the distance between it and Lycanroc, slamming its huge steel claws into her and knocking her out immediately.

Lyric: Perfect...! No Focus Sash...!

Nemona: Return Lycanroc! Hmm...

Nemona digs through her Pokémon, then nods.

Nemona: This is the best I can do right now... Come out, Orthworm!

Lyric: A pretty annoying wall... But not something I can't handle...

Nemona: Orthworm, use Earthquake!

Lyric: Ultron, exit stage left! Come out, Solaris!

Lyric expertly swapped Ultron out for a more favorable matchup against this physical wall. He wouldn't get anywhere with Ultron, but with Solaris the Shiny Volcarona, he easily tanked the Earthquake attack.

Lyric: Go, Fiery Dance!

Nemona: Shoot...!

Nemona groans and is forced to just take it, knocking out her Orthworm in a single hit and making Solaris even stronger. This was looking bad for Nemona. She REALLY should've put items on her Pokémon.

Nemona: You're up, Dudunsparce!

Nemona's third Pokémon was Dudunsparce. For a Paldean Champion, she didn't really have a Champion level team. Stealth Rock Lycanroc could definitely work, but it if that's its only job, then one would expect her other Pokémon to pick up the slack, but they've been pretty random picks. Either way, Lyric figured he couldn't beat this guy in one hit, and he knew that Solaris was in KO range. He just needed to read her right.
