Sora was making his way to the waiting room, until he ran into a familiar face.

Sora: Ike. Hey.

Ike: Sora.

Sora: I wasn't expecting to see you here. I would've thought you would go somewhere more...local.

Ike: Don't be stupid. You know why I'm here. It's the exact same reason you're here.

Sora: Oh? And what reason is that?

Ike: The top four contenders will automatically be placed into the Great Rank.

Sora: I was hoping you'd overlook that, but oh well. I guess I'll see you in the finals.

Ike: I hope so.

With that, Ike walks off to the A block waiting room.

Ike: By the way, B Block waiting rooms are on the other side.

Sora: Oh. Right. Thanks.

Like Ike, Sora makes his way to the other side of the stadium. Meanwhile, Lyric was preparing for something.

After what seemed like forever, the tournament was ready to start, and all 8 contenders stood across from each other. First, they must win their way through their own blocks, then get to the semifinals. Sora knowing Ike, he would most likely decimate his way through A Block. He needs to do the same if he wants to make it to the Great Rank. The way the tournament is set is that it's a three on three, single battle format.

Announcer: Now. Without further ado, let's start the battles! Our first battle it Sora Mitsukata! And his opponent is...! Oh boy, this will be a doozy! His opponent is Bruno of the Indigo Plateau!

Both Sora and Bruno step up to their rectangular box, where the trainers stands. The battlefield was quite big, about half the size of a football field.

Announcer: Let's start! Trainers! Send out your Pokémon!

Bruno did some mock punches at Sora, then threw out his first Pokémon, an Onix, while Sora threw his first ball out.

Sora: Go, Kame!!

Sora's first Pokémon was a Kommo-o from the Alola region. It was known as that region's pseudo-legendary. Kame shook itself to cause it scales to clatter against each other, preparing for battle.

Announcer: BEGIN!!

Bruno: Hu-hah! Onix! Use Rock Tomb!

Sora: Kame, use Clanging Scales!

Bruno's Onix hurled a bunch of rocks at the dragon, but Kame shattered them easily with the sound waves produced by his Clanging Scales attack, which landed its hit successfully on the rock serpent.

Sora: Next, use Close Combat!

Kame, immediately after seeing Onix hit by his last attack, rushed in and unleashed a flurry of attack, KOing the Onix in two hits.

Bruno returned his fainted Pokémon, and sent out his next one,  Hitmonchan.

Bruno: Hitmonchan! Use Ice Punch! Hu-hah!

Upon Bruno's command, Hitmonchan charged at Kame with an ice imbued fist, striking Kame with a super effective hit. But thanks to Kane's defenses, Hitmonchan's super effective, Iron Fist boosted, not STAB boosted Ice Punch was just shy of getting the KO on Kame. And Kame's defensive stats were lowered from both the Clanging Scales and Close Combat attacks!

Sora: Now. Use Close Combat again!

Kame started striking the boxing Pokémon with his raw power, and blasted Hitmonchan a good distance away, KOing it due to its decent, but still low, Defense stat.
