Luke walked into the headquarters, his thoughts running as he approached his colleagues, dare he say, his friends.

"Oh! Lukeeee! Welcome back! Slay any dragons today?" Chimed millie, excitedly.

"Hm? Oh-! Yeah, two." Luke lied.

"You're so productive-! I wish I could do that!" Sean whined, Luke just gave a nervous chuckle.

"EUGH how many dragons even are there..? Why is exterminating them taking so long..?" Hailey asked.

"Uh- reproduction..? Duh..?"

"I don't understand, why can't we hold them captive to stop them reproducing?"

"Not possible!" Hailey started.

"Seperate the males and the females.. no..?" Sean asked.

"Nope! Females don't need the men to become pregnant."

Luke perked up, really? ..just how many secrets did this species have?

"Huh? How does that work-" Millie continued.

"Apparently females just need to decide one day that they want a kid then they're pregnant- I don't know they're magic and shit."

"..How the fuck does that even-..how do you even know that-?"

Hailey then looked nervous as she out a hand on the back of her neck and looked down.

"..My dads a bit.. insane..?"

"Insane-? How so-?" Luke asked.

"He finds dragons interesting- Not scary or anything- in fact he dreams of meeting one-! So for his own safety I've uh.. taken the key to his home..? I visit him everyday Ofcourse-! ..I just don't want him to get hurt.." She whispered the last part.

"Damn really!? Shouldn't we ca-"

"NO! Sean! Don't call the institute on my dad-! Please don't-! He's really lovely! Honest! Just a bit nutty..!"

"..Hailey can I meet your dad? Maybe I can take him on a supervised trip to see dragons?..then kill them once his back is turned, obviously." Luke suggested.

"What-? Why would you eve-"

"Well, it cures his curiosity, may even extinguish his enthusiasm for dragons, so then he can be healed, it seemed better than keeping him locked up, right?"

"..I guess.. but how do I trust you..? You're the heir chief.. what if you do something to him..?"

"You have my word Hailey, he'll be fine. Why don't you just give me the keys to his home?"

Hailey sighed as she fished around in her pocket. Really..? That easily? She must be really desperate to 'heal' her dad-..

"There. If I find out you laid a single finger on my father Luke, you'll be dead."

"It's fine, you can trust me...what's his address again-?"

Luke found himself standing outside a lonely wooden house, much different than the advanced technological houses all throughout the city. This was right at the wall, it must be old.

He put the key in the jagged lock and opened the door.

"Hailey honey-! You're..back-.." The man froze, looking at Luke. His expression showed one of fear. Had his daughter ratted him out? Was he being taken to the institution?

Luke shut the door behind him.

"Michael, yes?" He spoke.

"..yes- Ah-! What can I do for you-! Tea-!? Soup-!?" He stuttered as he stood up.

Luke looked around the small wooden home. The walls were littered with drawings of dragons, though not accurate, they were good.

"..listen, don't tell ANYONE what I'm about to say, ok?" Luke glared at him.

Michael nodded hesitantly.

"I've met a dragon, ok? I know how they are. They're safe. I heard from Hailey you believe in them too? Yes? ..I can take you to see one. You're older and wiser than me, I presume you may know one or two things about them..?"

"Yes-! Well.. try too anyways.. you met a dragon!? A real dragon!? What were they like!?"

"..Sweet, tooth rottingly sweet. What was your trade before being locked up in here?"

"I was a scientist-! Mainly on the biological field but..-"

Luke's eyes lit up. "Perfect-! Absolutely perfect-! Please come with me to the dragons den-!"

"Oh-! Well.. I'm not sure my daughter would be pleased if I-"

"I got her permission! She trusts me!" Luke persisted.

"Really-!?"

"The only condition being.. everytime you come back from a  walk with me, pretend to hate dragons just a little more each and every time, alright?"

"..Alright.. why are you taking me with you-?"

"..This dragon I Met, he has preserved his mothers body for so long. She is still alive, but won't wake up. Her heart wasn't fully cut down the middle, so she's still alive... you love dragons, and you're a biological scientist.. I want that dragon to be happy- so I thought maybe you could help his mother..?"

"Me-!? I don't know that sounds like a big job-! What if I'm incompetent!? What if I kill her!?"

"..It's worth a try, Michael, I trust your knowledge, after you conduct hopefully successful research on her, maybe we can resort to help more dragons..?"

"..Take me to the den."
