When Stephen opened his door a few hours later, he wasn't expecting to see (Y/n), but he was grateful she was there. His mood throughout the evening hadn't gotten worse, but hadn't lightened up either, so he had been spending his evening in front of his computer doing work.
After they had settled down with their drinks and snacks in front of the TV, Stephen apologised for showing up unannounced earlier.
He genuinely just wanted to see her.
And he had realised after he left, that it didn't matter if she was on a date or not, since they weren't dating.
She explained that it really wasn't a date and it was just two friends catching up, and Stephen felt relieved, though not entirely sure why.
His mood calmed once they started a movie and he even asked if she would attend one of his speaking events in about a week, which she happily accepted.
The two doctors were sitting next to each other until (Y/n) eventually let her head fall onto Stephen's shoulder.
And after a while, he realised he wasn't even watching the movie. Instead, he was focusing on the way (Y/n) was breathing against his arm, or the way she would fidget with her fingers, or the way she would giggle when something funny on the screen happened.
Eventually, he reached around and cupped her jaw, turning her head away from the screen and towards him.
But this time, when he kissed her, it was gentle and soft.
It was something he wanted not because he was aching for her, but because he simply was happy she was there with him.
"What was that for?" (Y/n) giggled slightly, noticing how his features looked more calm than normal.
"Am I not allowed to do that?"
And he went in again.
Kissing her soft pillowy lips.
And yes, it started very gentle, but as they kept going, they found that heat that always formed between them. But this time, there was something else there too. Just like the first time.
(Y/n) pulled away though, a hand on his chest now that she had turned slightly towards him.
"Stephen, I-"
"I don't want to watch the movie." He said before pulling her back in, snaking his arm around her waist and pulling her close, craving her body next to his.
She melted into the kiss as Stephen pulled her onto his lap.
It took her a few minutes to remember why she pulled away the first time before she did it again, only now straddling him.
"Stephen, I want to talk."
Their breaths were heavy, and she rested her hands on his shoulders while his found their place on her waist.
"But I want to do something else."
He leaned in and started planting kisses along her neck. He knew by now where her weak spots were, and was very strategic when it came to times like this.
He had worked out exactly how to get her turned on, how to get her to melt and how to satisfy her. He loved hearing her reaction to his touch, and that's exactly what she was doing while she trailed her hands down his chest.
"First," She had managed, pushing him back into the couch, even though she loved feeling him on her neck, "You're going to listen. It's important."
Stephen raised an eyebrow, but he ultimately decided that once she had finished talking they could resume, so he gestured for her to start, his attention now all hers.
