"You're up late." Steve said as (Y/n) made her way into the gym to meet him.
After what she had just experienced with Stephen, she didn't feel the need to rush downstairs. Steve was just coming off a treadmill as she approached, seeing a stack of paperwork on a stool next to him.
"I'm guessing you wanted help with that?" (Y/n) asked, indicating towards the pile of work.
"Help, yes, but not just with that." Steve replied, grabbing a small towel and drying off some of his sweat.
(Y/n) moved to follow him as he picked up the paperwork and made his way out of the gym and into the work space near the lift. Steve took a seat on one of the couches and gestured for (Y/n) to join him, which she did.
"Just a heads up, Nat is going to be running your mission ops tomorrow."
"Wait, you're not going to be there?"
(Y/n) was genuinely shocked to hear this.
Finding out in advance you were needed for a mission was already quite rare, but hearing that Steve wouldn't be leading let alone joining?
That was strange.
"No, Tony and I need to attend some panel conference about the team. I don't want to go but seeing as I'm-"
"Captain America, yeah, hard to skip out on something like that." (Y/n) interjected with a grin. Steve was a very modest guy and anyone could tell he didn't like the attention that came with his role.
"Yeah, well, what can I do?" He shrugged, meeting (Y/n)'s grin with one of his own.
They then both turned their attention to the lift doors as they opened; Stephen, who was now in his work out gear was being dragged into the gym by Tony.
"Oh, come on, just because you have all those... those... things swirling around your hands all the time doesn't mean you shouldn't work out!" Tony said.
Stephen rolled his eyes before they met (Y/n)'s.
It felt awkward.
They had shared such an intimate moment earlier that morning but they didn't feel ready to talk about it.
About any of it.
She shyly smiled at him.
And he nodded back at her before turning his attention to greeting Steve, "Good morning."
"Hey, good morning. Stark, don't be annoying."
"I'm never annoying, Cap. You know, it's kind of rude to think otherwise. Hey Sparkles." Tony replied as the two moved into the gym.
"You guys alright?" Steve asked, noticing the awkward interaction between the two sorcerers.
"Hmm? Oh, yeah. All good." She said, plastering a smile to her face.
"Natasha seems to think you two look good together." He stated, leaning back into the couch and flicking through some of the papers.
"Does she now?" She replied, shaking her head in disbelief before she joined him in their work.
-
"So, you and (Y/l/n)?"
Tony was pestering Stephen whilst he was doing sit-ups - Tony leaning on Stephen's shoes to help.
"What about me & (Y/n)?" He replied through heavy breaths, not stopping his exercise while they talked.
"Kind of ironic, isn't it? I mean, two doctors, or surgeons I should say, who worked at the same hospital for years turn out to be two sorcerers who are part of the same heroic team doing the same line of work? And living in the same tower? That's some heavy coincidence." Tony smirked.
