Stephen sat by (Y/n)'s side all evening. He had no intention of spending the night in his room. He wanted to be with her. He wanted her to know that he wasn't ever going to leave. He was going to be there when she woke up. Because she was going to wake up. He wanted her to wake up.
Stephen had placed her rings back onto her hand. But one of them continuously found their way back onto his.
Fickle thing.
He always remembered The Ancient One's words when the cloak first chose him. And he always thought his cloak was just so... clingy. But after seeing the way (Y/n)'s rings not only worked but behaved while she was in this state, he started to finally realise that this was just the bond of a relic.
So, there he sat, right next to her, on Christmas eve, softly filling the lab with her favourite songs, festive ones included. He had conjured up a hot mug of tea and her scrapbook to keep him busy, and brought in a thick woollen blanket to tuck (Y/n) into so she wouldn't freeze.
And as her favourite Christmas song faded out, another one filled the room. But this one wasn't festive. It was, however, one of their favourites; Fooled Around And Fell In Love - Elvin Bishop.

"Ah, Dr. (Y/l/n)! May I introduce you to my colleague, Dr. Pierce."
(Y/n) had been standing in a long emerald satin dress, her hair done up quite beautifully in an elegant bun as she sipped from the champagne flute in her hand.
She had been invited to a medical benefit that Stephen so happened to be speaking at. But she had lost him somewhere in the crowd afterwards and was now trying her hardest not to look bored without him.
"Professor Holloway! It's been quite a while. It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Pierce."
"Please, the pleasure is all mine."
The tall gentleman had brought her hand to his lips, gently kissing her knuckles as he bowed.
"I'll leave you two to chat." The elderly woman winked before finding another spot in the crowd.
"Care to dance?"
"Oh-"
The doctor didn't hesitate to pull (Y/n) onto the dance floor, gently placing his hand on her waist while hers found his shoulder.
"So, Dr. (Y/l/n)-"
"Please, call me (Y/n)." She smiled.
"(Y/n), I must say, you do look quite stunning tonight."
She giggled bashfully, letting him lead her through the slow dance.
"That's very kind of you, Dr. So tell me, what area do you specialise in?"
He smiled kindly, gently dipping her to the music.
"Let's not talk about work. I mean, it's already bad enough we're at a work event."
They both giggled.
"Touché Dr. Well then, what would you like to talk about?"
They continued dancing as they thought, both of them having a hard time thinking of something other than work to mention.
"It is quite difficult isn't it?"
They both laughed.
"It sure is, but I-"
"I will be cutting in now."
Stephen had appeared from thin air next to the two, his hand finding (Y/n)'s waist and pulling her away from Dr Pierce, or as he put it in his mind, 'Dr. Flirty', and into his arms. He continued the dance right from where he had stolen (Y/n) and pushed them further into the crowd, away from him. And he watched with a smirk as the other doctor shuffled irritatedly back to his table.
