(Sylvie suddenly fell silent and left the room without a word. She went to Maggie.)
Sylvie: Maggie, please, can I say goodbye to Julie?
Maggie: Of course, Sylvie. Come, I'll take you to her.
(Sylvie followed Maggie from the waiting room to Julie's room. Sylvie sees her daughter lying in bed, but now calm, without pain. Sylvie gently approaches the bed and takes Julie's hand.)
Sylvie: Julie, sweetheart... Forgive me. I didn't do enough. I would do anything to keep you alive.
(Sylvie breaks down and begins to cry as she says goodbye to her daughter. Maggie respectfully leaves Sylvie alone with Julie so she can say goodbye in silence.)
(When Sylvie comes back a few minutes later, she notices that Jake is nowhere to be seen. Sylvie gets a little angry and wonders what was so important about Julie that he had to leave without saying goodbye.)
Sylvie: Antonio, where's Jake? Why did he leave?
Antonio: Sylvie, he had to go. I'm not sure what happened, but he didn't say goodbye.
Sylvie: How could he leave without saying goodbye to Julie? What could be so important?
Antonio: I don't know, Sylvie. Maybe he wasn't ready to face this situation.
Sylvie: It must have been his girlfriend calling him. What was so urgent?
Antonio: I don't know.
Sylvie: Antonio, this is not acceptable. Julie was his daughter. You should stay. He can't just leave without saying goodbye to her.
Antonio: I understand your frustration, Sylvie. But now we have to focus on how we will get through this difficult period together.
Sylvie: (sighs): ''Let's go home. The twins are tired.''
(Sylvie is disappointed by Jake's unceremonious departure. Julie was their daughter, and Sylvie can't understand how he could leave at such a time.)
(A few days later, Jake still hasn't heard back, and Sylvie is still grieving for Julie. Antonio hoped Sylvie would be cheered up by Gabby's visit.)
Antonio: Sylvie, I know these are hard times, but Gabby is here to support you. It might ease your pain a little.
Sylvie: (grunts) Thank you, Antonio. Gabby's presence will probably be welcome.
(Gabby, Antonia's sister, arrives at Sylvie's apartment. When Sylvie notices her, she gives her a helpless smile and they embrace gently.)
Gabby: Sylvie, my deepest condolences to Julia.
Sylvie: Thanks, Gabby. I'm actually glad you're here. Antonio was telling me that you had some funny anecdotes that could cheer me up.
Gabby: Sure, Sylvie. I'm willing to try anything to help you through this.
(Gabby and Sylvie sit down and begin sharing memories, funny anecdotes, and trying to find some light in this dark period of mourning.)
