with the memorable evening coming to an end, stressed-out students poured out of the great hall, prefects lining them into straight lines and guiding them back to the common room.
umi stood at a corner, dazed, her hand hitting her chest repeatedly as her soulless eyes stared at the ceiling. she was in a state of shock and couldn't believe the turn of events that had occurred that night.
she stood still for a couple of moments, then regained control of her senses, looking around till her eyes met those of riki's, who was at the corner of the hall.
the moment was ruined when riki started laughing uncontrollably, his finger pointed at umi's goblin face in a mocking manner as his back arched from laughing too hard.
umi frowned and walked up to him angrily, glaring at riki as she spoke up with her arms akimbo.
"you did this."
riki smirked. "yeah, i had lots of fun. you are so funny, i think you belong at the circus! hmmm... you could do on a unicycle, possibly juggling 10 frogs at once... nah, you would just fall flat on your face! HAHAHA!"
riki laughed out loud.
that sickening laugh that made umi's stomach churn in anger.
"shut. up. i want you to undo this mess. now. it's not funny." umi paused in between words, hoping to sound more authoritative and fearless, wanting to get the message across to riki's 'pea-sized' brain. (she would never admit the fact that riki always did better than her in examinations.)
"oh yeah? make me!" riki mocked, and in a flash and a swish of his robe, he disappeared without a trace.
umi clamped her fists, fuming in anger.
"ow!"
the claws on her hand were digging into her palm, causing her to yelp in pain.
umi massaged her hands, swearing with her brows furrowed, her mind cloudy with thought.
riki had no idea what was in store for him.
just he wait. he better watch out.
🪄
riki teleported into the dungeons, whistling happily while putting his hands in the pockets of his robe.
it was a great day, and possibly one of the highlights of this year so far.
that had to be the best prank he had ever played in the last 6 years of being a student at hogwarts.
best of all, he had finally achieved his goal. to piss off umi.
replaying umi's fuming goblin face in his head, made riki chuckle a little.
serves her right. i bet she won't dare mess with me anymore.
and now, i can finally focus on my friends.
even with minimal studying, riki has still been able to perform academically well in his exams. riki says it's because of his naturally smart genes. hence, 'studying is the least of my problems' (quote riki)
but after nights and nights of planning for the big day, riki had started to neglect his friends. sunoo often pestered him about joining the group for lunch, but riki had to decline the offer numerous times due to planning the prank.
furthermore, he had neglected his training for the quidditch team.
as the seeker, riki was the most important player of the team. but he did his job well and usually was the star player in the matches they had played in previous seasons.
however, this season, he felt out of it. the coach had scolded him on numerous occasions but riki simply brushed it off by saying he just wasn't in the mood.
he couldn't let the coach know about what he was doing at 1am on school nights.
with the amount of effort he put into this prank, riki relished at the thought of returning to quidditch training and being able to spend more time with his friends.
he plopped onto his bed the moment he reached his dormitory, and fell into a deep slumber.
uh oh...
