when it comes to nishimura riki, pranks are always, always carried out in a systematic fashion.

it is extremely important to plan out when, where, and how the prank will occur.

riki stayed in his dormitory, a rolled-out scroll placed on his desk, one hand holding a quill hovering mid-air over the ink bottle, with the other balled up into a fist to support his cheek while he was deep in thought.

it was way past midnight, but riki showed no signs of sleepiness as he stayed put at his desk, racking his brains trying to think of the perfect moment to intrude upon umi...

🪄

"WAKE UP you moron. it's almost time for potions."

jay was seen aggressively shaking riki, who had ended up falling asleep on his desk, a slight bit of drool falling onto the parchment scroll.

despite jay's efforts, riki had continued to be immune to the forceful shaking.

jay sighed heavily, deciding to leave without him.

he'll be fine. he's old enough.

at least that's what jay thought.

🪄

by the time riki woke up, it was mid-afternoon. riki groggily rubbed his eyes and realised he had missed all of his classes.

to be honest, that was the least of his worries.

he quickly put on his robe and ran out into the dungeons, climbing up the stairs to head towards the courtyard to get some fresh air.

before he dozed off in the middle of his planning the night before, he had remembered that the school was going to hold a party for the newly invested head boy and girl the next day.

hence, it was the perfect opportunity.

all he had to do was time it right, and umi will be wrapped around his finger.

he could imagine tossing umi around like a football.

"RIKIIIIII!"

riki jumped a little, turning his head to the source of the noise. it had turned out to be sunoo, who was screaming in his ear.

"i literally called you for the third time. a penny for your thoughts?" sunoo rolled his eyes, folding his arms against his chest.

"um...it's nothing."

"you're always up to no good. i don't know what to do with you." sunoo shook his head dramatically, a 'tsk' sound escaping his lips.

it had just come to mind that sunoo was in ravenclaw too.

riki phrased his question carefully, before asking, "isn't the head girl and boy ceremony tonight?"

"yeah, remember to follow the dress code! we don't want you wearing a clown costume to last year's christmas party again..." sunoo warned.

"yeah yeah..." riki pretended not to hear sunoo's nagging.

"yah! i'm serious."

"ok mr naggy..."

"YAH!"

that was riki's cue to run.

🪄

after losing sunoo mid-chase, riki decided to head back to his dorm, picking an outfit from his wardrobe.

guess a suit will do.

either way, what's important isn't the suit. it will be the priceless reaction on umi's face.

🪄

7.00PM

students haul into the great hall in their smart dresses and suits, light chatter filling the air.

the great hall had transformed into a whole new place.

banners with the faces of the head girl and head boy hung in the air, the long bench tables replaced with round slick tables covered in white cloth, the golden orange flow of the torches became a new shade of midnight blue.

riki sits with the boys at one of the tables, strategically near to the front where the elevated platform was. aka the place where umi and the head boy, kai, were sitting.

the last of the students settled into the room, and the big oak doors at the entrance shut with a boom.

the headmaster was about to take the stage.

riki rubs his hands in glee and anticipation.

it was almost his time to shine.
