"urgh... i think i messed up big time." riki buries his face in his hands, shaking his head in dismay.

the boys crowd around him, sunoo reaching to pat his back. "hey, at least you were brave about it. but since when did u ever like umi?"

riki looked up and opened his mouth to answer, but no words came out.

he didn't know.

"i...i guess it just happened?" riki scratched his neck in shyness.

sunoo let out a 'hm'.

the others started teasing riki for being in love.

jake shook riki, half-screaming, "our youngest finally kissed a girl! just when i thought he was gay!!!"

riki and the rest proceeded to stare at jake.

silence.

jake laughs awkwardly, letting go of riki. maybe that wasn't a good idea.

riki ruffles his hair, speaking in frustration. "but what do i do now?"

why did i kiss her?

jay spoke up. "i dunno man, you gotta deal with it yourself. guys, let's go now. curfew's almost over."

and just like that, the boys left riki's dorm.

why did i kiss her?

riki lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

he couldn't stop thinking of her.

🪄

a budding ravenclaw slumps on the common room couch, arms crossed, deep in thought.

"umi...what's wrong?" chaewon nudges umi, who looked unusually solemn.

"so uh...promise you won't freak out."

chaewon eagerly links pinkies with umi.

"so...i may or may not have kissed nishimu-"

"WHAT??? NISHIMURA RIKI????" chaewon shrieks, jumping from the couch.

umi just stared at her.

chaewon, realising that everyone else in the room was looking at her, quietened down and resumed her place at the couch.

chaewon meekly looks down at the floor, apologising. "sorry...but that's crazy? how did y'all get to this stage??? i thought you both hated each others guts!"

umi shakes her head. "that's not the point. i think i embarrassed myself."

"you're not a good kisser?" chaewon raised her brows.

"haven't even kissed anyone before." umi nods.

she shivers, just thinking back to that night.

umi pulls back from riki's embrace, shaking her head.

"i'm sorry." she mouths.

riki, confused, watches umi leave the library, her figure growing smaller and smaller as she walks into the distance.

ever since that night, umi started paying more attention to her appearance. she felt self conscious. she started looking into the mirror more often than usual, and spent a longer time getting ready.

the same could be said for riki.

"nishimura! focus!" riki steers his broom, gripping tightly onto the handle, trying to focus.

but his mind just couldn't do it.

the broom swayed back and forth, before spinning riki out of control, with riki eventually crashing onto the grass in a heap.

"nishimura! what's up with you today? how are we going to beat the badgers if you continue this performance?"

"sorry coach, i'm just out of it today. i'll be better tomorrow." and riki turns to walk off the field.

"HEY! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING?"

riki couldn't care less.

he walks back to his dorm, running his fingers through his sweaty hair, collapsing onto the couch.

this cannot continue.

he needs to stop.

thinking.
