"Are you sure you did the locator spell right?" Lizzie asked looking around the rocky area of the mountains she her father and sister had tracked someone with a massive amount of of power they weren't sure if it was a witch, werewolf, or vampire yet.
"Yes Lizzie I'm sure." The Tribrid said getting tired of the blonde complaining. Lizzie had been whining the entire trip. First it was how far they had to walk, then it was how cold it was, and now she was whining about the spell. If Hope was honest she had her doubts but her gut instinct was telling her they were in the right direction. That was when they felt the earth shake and heard the a low growling noise. The trio froze as the sound of footsteps got closer. Hope held out her hands so her friends could siphon from her in case they needed to fight someone or more likely something. What none of them were expecting was what came right in front of them from behind the trees emerged a 430 pound nine foot tall gorilla.
"Nobody move." Lizzie said Generally, gorillas tended to be peaceful, gentle and friendly primates but this was still a wild animal there was no glass between the witches and the ape. Hope being an apex predator had no fear, the twins however were fighting not to freak out. Looking at them it grunted before making its way over to a tree near Josie and began picking fruit from the trees.
Once it was done it climbed down and looked at Josie then Hope then back to Josie before heading over to Lizzie. "What's with this thing?" The blonde asked in a shaky voice as the animal continued to circle the three smelling them. "I think we're near its Den." Josie said looking in the direction the animal had come from.
"Oh, that's just great. Hey Hope can you ask King Kong here if we can spend the night at his place?" Lizzie asked as the animal made its way back over to her sister.
"Just because I can turn into an animal doesn't mean I can talk to them." The Tribrid replied rolling her eyes.
"Maybe he wants a roommate, we should take him back and you can share a room with him Hope." Josie quipped as the gorilla sniffed her.
"Oh ha, ha."
Reaching out Josie touched the animal and her eyes widened as she felt power that rivaled her friends it wasn't magic but it was supernatural energy of some sort. And it was powerful.
"Uh, guys it might sound crazy but I think the massive power came from the gorilla."
Hope raised an eyebrow. "What makes you think that?""The fact that I can siphon from it." Josie replied.
"You can siphon from that thing?" Hope asked as the ape made its way back to its lunch giving the witches another look it grunted before picking up the fruits and foliage. As if to prove Josie's point the gorilla walked over to Lizzie and handed her a berry with giant hand. "Uh thanks." The blonde said taking the berry as her tiny hand touched the giant cement sized block one and she felt the same powerful energy coming from the gorilla.
After it did the same for her sister and best friend the nine foot gorilla turned around and headed back the way it came. The trio looked at each other and silently agreed that they'd found the source of power.
"I guess we should set up camp here." Josie said as she set her back pack down.
"So, our potential student is a literal monkey." Lizzie said sitting down "I don't think that was a normal gorilla." Hope said sitting down between Josie and Lizzie. "What gave it away the fact that it was taller than Micheal Jordan or the fact that we can siphon from it?" Josie asked opening her back pack removing the camp supplies.
"It's scent." Hope replied as she cast a spell causing the camp to set itself up. "What do you mean?" Josie asked sitting down.
"Everything has a different scent to a wolf, every human, animal, plant, some canines can smell cancer." Hope explained
"So, you're saying its scent wasn't purely animal?" Lizzie asked Hope nodded her head in response. There was a long silence as the twins waited for an explanation. Hope took a deep breath before saying it had a human scent.
"So you're telling me that the gorilla was actually a human being?" Lizzie asked as if it was the stupidest thing she'd ever heard
"It's not unheard of I mean in the past witch's have cursed entire villages and families as punishment trapping someone as an animal isn't as crazy as it sounds." Hope explained.
"It's most likely he was changed against his will. The question is what caused his transformation?" Josie said.
"It could've been any number of things, maybe an ancient ritual went wrong, maybe they came in contact with a hexed object, or perhaps they pissed off the wrong witch." Hope said listing a few reasons of the top of her head. There was a long silence as the reality of the situation sank in.
"Okay so what now? We can't exactly take a ten foot tall gorilla on the plane back to school." Lizzie said breaking the silence. "Well we could do a spell to try and enter its subconscious similar to a head dive." Hope suggested
"Or we could call your aunt Freya to see if there's any spell that can teleport it to the transition cells at school." Josie added. The three girls kept brain storming before settling on trying the spell that was like a head dive.
"There's just one problem, animals don't process time like us. Sure they age, they know when it's time to go to sleep, when to hunt, eat, and hibernate. But I don't think they know how many years pass. How would you know where to look?" Josie asked.
"The spell should send us back to its earliest memory, hopefully its earliest memory involves human form." Hope replied.
"So, which one of us is going in?" Lizzie asked.
