"Hey, are you okay?" Kyung Jun whispers, nudging you awake. "Yeah," You reply but you feel a dull ache on your neck, "What—"

"Before the end of the last voting, the police officer used their power. Choi Joo Won was executed by the mafia. Choi Joo Won is the mafia. Participants, please find the mafia and start voting."

"Where's Joo Won?" Yoon Seo asked.

Woo Ram stood up, "The announcement. Who's making this announcement?" Hyun Ho looked over to him, "The broadcasting room is on the second floor. Let's go there, let's go." You were about to follow until you hear a shout from the bathroom before you.

As you walk in, the first thing you notice is a pool of blood inside one of the cubicles. It's bright red, still fresh.

"Shit, Class President, go open it." Kyung Jun pushed said president towards the cubicle. He swung the door open, revealing a bloodied Joo Won. You gasp and everyone takes a step back.

Yoon Seo suddenly bends down, scraping the blood off the floor, "The blood hasn't dried yet. He died recently." She's crazy, you think.

"T-This is because of the mafia game. What if we all die too?" Da Beom had stuttered. Everyone looked over to him right as Kyung Jun grabbed his collar, "Shut up you bastard, no one's fucking dying."

You open your mouth to intervene with Kyung Jun's threats to Da Beom, but nothing comes out.

Suddenly, Kyung Jun's on Jun Hee, "Hey Class President, what will you do now?"

"We should.. get out of here first." He continued, "Tell everyone we should get out of here." You follow behind Kyung Jun.

You both go and retrieve Jin Ha and Seung Bin, the four of you being the last to exit the building.

"The game has to be played within the designated area."

"Guys, hold on. Don't leave and stay for a moment." Jun Hee said, but your classmate, Sang Hwan protested, "Do you believe bullshit like this? Fuck, whatever! Let's just go."

Sang Hwan ran across the road, his friend following right behind him, trying to stop him.

"Lee Sang Hwan is being executed for breaking the rule."
"Kim Hyeong Seok is being executed for breaking the rule."

You notice the white lines painted onto the ground. That was probably where the designated area ended, you figured.

All of a sudden, both boys turn to each other, and start charging. Bashing their heads against one another's, blood spurring out. You let out a scream.

You couldn't bear to watch anymore deaths. You couldn't handle the blood, the screams, the morbidity surrounding this torturous mafia game.

You grabbed Kyung Jun's arm and hid your face behind his shoulder. But only to be met with Jin Ha and Seung Bin's horrified faces. You wanted to vomit, you could feel bile rising up your throat. You closed your eyes, but nothing could block the sound of blood squelching and the stench filling the air.

"Lee Sang Hwan and Kim Hyeong Seok were civilians."

A few silent moments pass of everyone standing shocked, before someone decides to go back in, everyone following after them. You all gather in a circle.

"What do we do now? Won't we die if we stay here?" Mi Na was crying. You sat on a counter, Kyung Jun's hand resting on your knee.

"The teacher will come soon." Jun Hee said, you could sense there wasn't a lot of truth behind that.

Out of nowhere, your classmates Ji Soo and Eun Chan started arguing about what to call your dead classmates: dead bodies, classmates; whatever, you couldn't care less about what they had to say.

"Kim So Mi, do you really not know when the teacher's coming back" You Joon asked. "I don't. He can't be reached, how should I know?" She glared back at him.

You hear a low jingle behind you and glance to the side, seeing Kyung Jun holding a bunch of keys. He quietly places it in his pocket and makes eye contact as he turns back around.

"There's a mountain accessible to the trails. If you keep going, there's a village. We just need to go where the people are and ask for help." Jun Hee proposed. He gathered everyone around a map of the youth center he'd found.

"What if you leave and die like they did earlier?" Jin Ha asked, "What will you do then?"

"No, it's safe as long as you don't cross the line."

"It sucks waiting here. It won't be a bad idea to try going there." You look over to Kyung Jun, he was finally being sensible, you thought.

"You're right. But we all can't go. I'll go on my own." What an easy to kill yourself.

"I'm coming. Na Hee, what about you?" So Mi asked. The former hesitated.

"Look at you guys. You're too weak to hike properly." Hyun Ho said. And suddenly Na Hee volunteered as well, making you take a step forward, you knew she was unqualified for that. But if she was going, you were going.

As you were about to volunteer, a hand grabs your shoulder and spins you around, "Are you insane? You aren't cut out for that." Kyung Jun let out an exasperated sigh.

You stare at him for a moment, weighing your options, his face was full of worry, and you back down eventually. He was right.

Eventually, they get enough people and leave for the hike, leaving the rest of you to have to wait for who knows how long.

You four make your to the cafeteria, unlocking it. It's as if you were sent heaven, all the instant noodles and candy you could possibly imagine.

You fill a basket with food. You lot were just eating. Coming to an agreement that no one else should have access to this place, you reluctantly agreed.

"Kim Dong Hyun was a citizen."
