They broke up a year ago. It was fully their own fault for letting it fall apart when they could've fixed it in time for the holidays. But of course they didn't, because they had both been busy with ‘work’—if hooking up with other people still counted as work.

Two months before they split ways, Jimin got together with her coworker, Chaehyun. Minjeong could tell that there was something between them when she'd seen them acting pretty cozy with each other during a little visit to Jimin's workplace once. Chaehyun is a charming, really kind and lovely girl—Minjeong knew that much. She also knew that Jimin had brought her home one time and casually made out with her on the couch. Minjeong had walked in on them nearly naked and she turned back around the moment she saw them. She told herself: it was fine. Jimin was cheating on her, but that was okay. At least it could neutralize the guilt she felt for cheating on Jimin as well.

Minjeong originally had no intentions on cheating. She made it her mission to play the role of a loyal dog in their relationship. But when a new neighbor knocked on her door one evening, clad in a pretty sundress and splashed with innocence, loyalty fled her mind and all that was left inside her was: Yizhuo, Yizhuo, and Yizhuo. She wanted to get Yizhuo out of that dress; she needed to. She'd fantasized about watching Yizhuo undress herself rather than doing it for her, pulling the girl to her bed and diving between her legs until she'd suffocate. It got so bad that she had to physically hold herself back when she'd seen Yizhuo stepping out of her flat in a loose tee and booty shorts, carrying two heavy trash bags with her to throw out. So it really was fine that Jimin was cheating on her. Because she'd cheated way earlier, and way more times—if the fairly big amount of Yizhuo's clothes in her dryer were any indication.

It was Christmas Eve when Minjeong decided it was time. She'd barged into Jimin's apartment, stood tall in front of Jimin on the couch and the only thing she'd said was: “We should break up.”

Jimin hadn't looked all that surprised. The most she did was raise her eyebrows and scan Minjeong's face for traces of sarcasm. Then her eyes had lit up, as if she was told great news. “Like seriously?” She'd asked in pure excitement. “Why though?”

“You're cheating, I'm cheating. That should be enough.” It took a bit of courage for Minjeong to say that, to be frank. Though it was partly due to her being naturally cowardice. But she'd said it, nonetheless. All that was left was for them to actually break up.

To that, Jimin only tilted her head, smiling in kind. “Any peace offerings?”

Minjeong had initially thought about that, too. But they'd practically been in a truce since the very beginning of everything. “None that I know of.”
