"What happened to him? Avni, do something.", my mother said while trying to hold back her tears.

"Mom, relax. Nothing will happen so don't worry, everything will be fine.", I said as I try to calm my mother.

"Aarav, help me to get your father on bed.", Vihaan said as he started lifting my father.

When my father was laid on bed, I quickly checked his pulse rate and his breathing.
"It is a case of hypoxia. Vihaan, we will have to rush him to a hospital because we don't have any oxygen aid available here."

"No, there is no need of that, Avni.", Vihaan said then turned towards my mother, "Aunty, can you bring that portable oxygen concentrator I had given you the last time."

I eyed him in shock as he looked at me like something was there which he was hiding from me and as I was about to question him about it, my mother came handing the oxygen aid to Vihaan.

"I will talk to you later about it. First, we need to fix this oxygen aid.", Vihaan said like he knew I was about to question him about it. I nodded and fixed the oxygen mask while Vihaan helped me in connecting it to the oxygen concentrator.

When we were finished fixing it, Vihaan sighed in relief and said, "Now he will be alright."

"I'll check on him after a few minutes till that time Aarav, take mummy to your room. She needs some rest and mummy, you don't have to worry, Vihaan and I are there to look after daddy, so you go and rest.", I said and when we were alone with my dad, I popped out the question which was bothering me for so long.

"Vihaan, has this minor case of hypoxia been occurred before and if it has, then why didn't you inform me about it.", I said while controlling my anger but to no avail, my anger was clear on my face.

"Avni, yes this is the second time it has happened and I thought, I shouldn't bother you with it as I knew you would get tensed and I didn't want anything to hinder your studies and I was there at that time to take care of him.", Vihaan said as he cupped my face with his hands.

"How can you deduce this, Vihaan! You know dad's health has always been my priority and that I am always on edge when it comes to daddy so why didn't you tell me about it.", I said as I gave up on controlling my tears which I have been holding back.

"Avni, please don't cry. You know I can't see you like this. I am sorry I didn't inform you and even refrained your family to tell you about it.", Vihaan said as he held me in his embrace while he rubbed my back soothingly to calm me down.

I placed my head on his chest while reminiscing this same moment which had occurred few years back when my father was detected with cardiomyopathy. It was then that I decided to excel in this field and become a cardiac surgeon myself.

"You very well know why I am even in this particular career, it is only because of my daddy so please see to it that this never happens again as to how I am sensitive about it.", I said while pulling myself out from his embrace.

"I promise I'll never hold back anything which is related to your dad.", he said and lightly kissed my forehead.

"I think I should check his pulse rate and breathing now so you go and sit with your mother. She needs you and stop crying or else she will get all tensed up if she will see you like this.", Vihaan said then he went to check on my dad while I wiped my tears and headed towards Aarav's room.

As I entered the room, I saw my mother crying while Aarav tried to calm her down and when she saw me, she got up from her seat and headed towards me, "Avni, how is your father now?"

"He is fine. He has to get some sleep and when he gets up, you know what you have to do, Avni.", Vihaan announced standing near the door.

"Thank God, he is fine.", my mother said as she hugged me.
