Chapter 6

Kiara's pov

I open my phone as soon as I sit in the cab and bid him goodbye. He has saved his name as Mr. Roy which I find a little weird. Didn't he just smile at me? Aren't we at least at first name basis now? Whatever. I leave it as it is for now.

But soon my phone pings to see I have a message from him.

Mr. Roy: Tell your parents it is a love marriage.

I frown reading the message. Why do I need to lie to my mother while she knows I am looking to get married and is herself setting up some of my dates?

Me: Why?

Mr. Roy: That is what I will be telling to my family. Our stories should match.

He is such a dry texter and so formal. Ew. What happened to him? He used to be so different.

Me: Why?

Mr. Roy: So that if they talk, our stories don't cross each other's.

Me: I meant why are you lying to your family, smartass

Mr. Roy: That's the only plausible explanation to break my marriage with the other girl. Love is a strong emotion, Kiara, it makes you do stupid things.

It feels like he is taunting me but why would he do that now? It's been ten years.

Mr. Roy: That is what my family will see things like.

Oh. That's what he meant. I am just overthinking.

Me: We have to make up a whole story then

Mr. Roy: I'll tell my family some details today as I had already messaged my fiancé regarding canceling our marriage. We will match our stories tomorrow.

When did he even get the time to tell her? It's been like 10 minutes since we parted ways.

Me: I'll be vague about today's date then. Will tell my family tomorrow after we match our stories.

Mr. Roy: I'll message you the time and place to meet today itself before midnight.

Oh, we are going to meet. I thought it was going to be a call.

Don't you look too happy.

Me: Sure

Mr. Roy: Text me after reaching home.

And right now, I get it why people appreciate and fawn over the bare minimum.

Author's pov

'Why did I send her that last text? What was the need for it?' Is all Rihaan could think about right after sending it. It's all for the plot he assures himself.

'Or maybe one meet up with her and you have forgotten what she did to you' a thought like this dares to pass his mind. He instantly shuts it down since he is very much determined to get his revenge.

Soon he reaches the Roy Mansion and gets off the car, saying final greetings to the driver. He respects his staff and they adore and respect him back.

He takes two calm breathes before ringing the bell knowing what awaits inside.

Ruhi opens the door to find her brother. He looks worn out and tired she thought and felt bad about what was going to happen to him as soon as he entered.

"All the best," she whispered to him.

By now Vibha's parents and her elder sister are here too. They have been taunting Ruhi, Adarsh and Akanksha for hours now. And Mahika and Nandita are not helping the situation by plotting many bad what ifs in grandparents mind.
