Sudden Affection (Pt. 2)

     It was the next morning, the sun shining and most trolls still asleep. Poppy and Branch were still in bed, their hair intertwined with one another's. It was evident the both of them were cuddling last night, as Poppy was next to Branch in bed. Branch had one of his arms around her and she had her arms around him. His hand was out, palm up. Branch was the one who woke up first.

     He rubbed his eyes with his free hand, glancing at Poppy. "She's so cute when she's asleep," he thought. He used his hand to rub Poppy's cheek. He slowly removed his hair from hers. "Wake up Poppyseed," he said gently.

     "Mmmh, five more minutess.." she yawned, holding her boyfriend tighter in response.

     "Poppy, it's the morning. And plus, we're gonna go out for milkshakes, remember?" 

     With hearing 'milkshakes,' she immediately put her head up, took one of her arms, and rubbed her eyes. She sleepily smiled and and said, "Mornin' Branch.."

     "Goodmorning Poppy," he replied. He still had his hand on her cheek. He giggled softly a bit, then removed his hand. He lowered his other hand down to her waist, then removed that one as well, giving Poppy the freedom to move off the bed.

     When she got off the bed, she said, "I'll make us breakfast?"

     "Nope, I'll make us breakfast. I insist," he remarked. He then also got off the bed on the opposite side, walked to Poppy, and wrapped his arms around her from behind, giving her a kiss on the cheek. He then removed his arms and walked towards the bathroom to start brushing his teeth.

     Poppy just stood there frozen, eyes widened, face completely flushed. "He- he just.. wow.." Her high-alert expression went into a lovesick one, effectively setting her mood for the day. She went into the bathroom with Branch to brush her teeth.

~ time skip to breakfast ~

     Branch was making light and fluffy chocolate chip pancakes, and he was making the last one. He already prepared Poppy's; stack of 3 with a slice of butter, chocolate syrup, and tons of sprinkles with strawberry slices. His looked much simpler; stack of 2 with a slice of butter and maple syrup on the side, ready to be put on. Both of their hot cocoas had the same effort put into them; matching bright blue and bright pink mugs with flower print all over, presentable whipped cream, a white straw, and colorful mini marshmallows. The two of them had chairs next to each other at the table. Branch flipped the last pancake, put it on his stack, then put on the extra items.

     Branch took his pancakes and sat next to Poppy, holding her cheek, giving her another kiss on it. "I really like your outfit," he complimented Poppy. Poppy had a pastel pink tank top, a white pleated miniskirt, mothergarden-style strawberry legwarmers, and the matching hairclip she got with Branch.

     Poppy giggled at the kiss and the compliment, her face flushing once more. "Thank you Branch, your outfit looks nice as well." Branch was wearing a pastel blue version of his usual vest, long white shorts, short white legwarmers, and the matching hairclip he got with Poppy.

     The pair ate together and talked about different things, remarking and laughing with each other. Once they were done, they left their dishes in the sink and walked out of Branch's bunker.

     The two held hands together, their fingers interlocked. Poppy ran her fingers on Branch's knuckles while they walked together towards a local milkshake shop. Poppy rambled about a new scrapbook story she's making, while Branch just listened, smiling at her the entire time.

     "We're here!" Branch exclaimed excitedly.

     "WOOHOO!! Let's go in, c'mon!" She pulled his hand, running towards the door.

     Branch laughed as he followed with, rolling his eyes when they got to the door.
