"I'm cursed,"
"WHAT?"
Jungkook sat up straight, her eyes wide with disbelief. her mind racing to process his words. She turned her body slightly toward him, eager to hear more.
Taehyung took a deep breath, his gaze distant, staring into the abyss of his family's past. He rubbed the back of his neck, a gesture she was beginning to recognize as his way of bracing himself for tough conversations.
"My father, Kim Taesung," he began, "desired wealth... at any cost. He made a deal with the dark Jinn. They gave him what he wanted, but nothing comes for free."
His tone darkened as he spoke and Jungkook could feel a shiver run down her spine. "In exchange, the Jinn demanded a favour in return—my father's first child."
Jungkook's heart dropped, her eyes widening in horror. The twig she had been idly twirling between her fingers fell to the ground, long forgotten. Her gaze remained glued to him, stunned by the revelation. She couldn't believe what she was hearing—this was the kind of story that belonged in legends, not reality.
"Me," Taehyung added, the bitterness in his voice unmistakable.
Jungkook was speechless, She could see the strain in his face, the burden of this dark secret.
"What... what does that mean?" Jungkook asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Taehyung's jaw tightened as he looked down, his hands clenching and unclenching. "It means my life was never fully my own," he muttered. "I'm bound by the curse. The Jinn have a claim on me and as long as the pact remains unbroken, I'm at their mercy."
Jungkook's heart twisted, her gaze softening as she tried to absorb his words. She had never imagined that behind Taehyung's calm exterior lay such a tragic legacy.
"Your father made a deal with a dark Jinn? And you... you're the consequence of that deal?"
Taehyung nodded, "Yes. The curse passed down on me is the consequence of that deal. Although it granted me supernatural abilities, it comes at a cost."
Jungkook reached out to hold Taehyung's hand. Jungkook bit her lip, her curiosity bubbling over.
"So... do Jinn really exist in reality?"
"Yes, they do. In legends, they're often seen as powerful beings, capable of granting wishes but also capable of great mischief or harm. The tales say they can be summoned, but there's always a price to pay."
Jungkook's eyes widened, "But how can they be real? I thought they were just stories."
"They're more than just stories," Taehyung replied, "In this world, the boundaries between reality and myth can blur. I've learned that the hard way. My father's deal was just one example, but there are countless others."
