Jungkook stood by the window in their room, her gaze fixed on the dark sky outside. The soft hues of twilight cast a gentle glow over her but the moment did little to ease the discomfort knotting in her chest. Her cheeks were flushed a deep red not from the evening light, but from the thoughts that kept replaying in her mind.

The assumptions, the gossip, and the idea of a baby being thrown around carelessly—the thought of them all speculating, guessing, and whispering—had her stomach churning in embarrassment.

Why did they have to jump to conclusions like that? Jungkook thought, fidgeting with the sleeve of her blouse.

Her cheeks warmed further as the memory of their gossip filled her mind. She couldn't help but let out a quiet giggle at the nonsense of it all. The image of her family members exchanging eager glances and quietly whispering about the possibility of her expecting made her laugh even more.

Her giggle escaped freely and she pressed her hand to her mouth to stifle it, but it was no use. The more she thought about it, the more ridiculous it seemed.

Grandma Kim with all smiles and twinkling eyes, practically singing about a future little Kim. Jimin, trying to keep her composure but clearly failing, and Yeonjun, sitting there with his serious face as if he could solve the puzzle of her supposed "condition."

The maids talking about my dizziness, Jungkook thought, covering her face with her hands, still trying to contain her laughter. It's just stress from work!

Her fingers lightly traced the window frame as her thoughts drifted back to the moment she had blurted out the truth in a panic. The words had come out so bluntly, so uncharacteristically of her.

We haven't... we haven't even touched each other yet.

The moment Jungkook said it, she wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear. The room had gone dead silent after that—her face was probably as red as a tomato.

The blush on her cheeks deepened, and she turned her face away from the window, trying to shake the feeling of utter embarrassment.

But the more she replayed it, the more she couldn't stop herself from chuckling. It was so typical of her to say the first thing that came to her mind in a situation like that, but what really cracked her up was how absurd the whole thing seemed now.

Her smile softened at the thought of how Taehyung had handled the whole mess, scolding the family in his way and stepping up to put a stop to the madness. She felt grateful, even if it had caused her to turn into a flustered mess in front of everyone.

Jungkook continued to stare out at the fading sky, her mind still a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, she didn't notice the door creak open. Taehyung entered the room quietly, his expression still a little tense from the dinner's chaos. He had expected to find Jungkook upset, maybe even angry, at the family's assumptions—he had already scolded them all for their behavior, but he knew that didn't necessarily ease her discomfort.
