Chapter 7: Trouble in Paradise/New Enemies

When Edward and Aurora came out of the house, they stopped in their tracks when they saw Scott and Sam snarling at each other. Sam was in his wolf form while Scott only had his claws, fangs, and ears out. Aurora's eyes widened and said, "Oh, my God, what happened?!?! Scott, Uncle Sam?" Scott turned to look at his girlfriend then slightly shook his head and stalked off, huffing. Aurora excused herself from the group and ran after her boyfriend. Edward then came over to Sam, after he turned back into his human form, and said to him, "What happened, Sam?" Sam sighed and replied, "That boy has a lot of work to do to get his temper under control. He needs to learn that he can't let his temper get the best of him if he wants to be a good Alpha and leader. Aurora will need to help ground him." Edward let a scoff and said, "That doesn't explain to me what happened, Sam. Why were you two growling at each other?" Sam rolled his eyes and replied, "I was trying to give him some advice on what happened in the kitchen. And then he just started to get mad about it, saying that Aurora belonged with them in Beacon Hills. I told him that it was her decision to make if she wanted to go back to Beacon Hills or to stay here. It's her life, Edward. She's going to be the one to make that decision and that boy will have to come to terms with it." Edward sighed, he knew that Sam was right about that. While he wanted his niece to stay here, she had another life besides the new one she had made in Forks. He only hoped that the decision she would make would make her happy.

With the couple, Aurora called out to Scott as he stormed off to who knows where. At this point, Scott was at a boiling point as his anger rose by the minute. Aurora let out a sigh and said, "Scott, can we please talk about this?!?! Why are you so mad at Uncle Sam?! Tell me!" Scott growled to himself and replied, turning around to face her, "You want to know why?! Because he thinks that he can be a better Alpha than me and he said that I should control my temper!! I've been an Alpha for almost a couple years. I know how to look after my pack." Aurora sighed and said, trying to calm her boyfriend, "But you still shouldn't have gone off on my Uncle Sam. He's just trying to help you. He's been an alpha longer than you have, Scott. He knows how to handle things." Scott scoffed and said, "So, you're saying that he's a better leader than I am?" Aurora rolled her eyes and replied, "No, I'm saying that he's more experienced than you are, which isn't a bad thing. It takes time to get to that point, Scott. Even Derek knew that when he became an alpha. I don't know why you're acting like this towards my new friends and family." Scott snorted and said, "Because I know that you're going to have to choose between Beacon Hills and here and I know which one you'll choose." Aurora's face then turned dark when Scott said that. She glared at the boy and replied, "You really think I'll do that? That's so low of you!! I have been with you and the others for as long as I can remember, Scott. These people here? I have never even knew that I had a connection to them until the day you, Stiles, I came across that file folder in Dad's office. I wanted to know them and I have and now I want to be apart of their lives! And I have that chance and I'm going to take it."

Scott stood in shock at Aurora's revelation and was speechless. Never before had Aurora ever went off on anyone, much less Scott, like that with such anger. Aurora sighed and said to Scott, "When we first started dating, Scotty, you promised me that you would always take my side and would respect my decision in anything that I do. That was your promise to me. Why don't you trust me to make my own choices especially with this new life I have now?" Scott just sighed sadly and replied, as he walked towards Aurora, "I don't know where these new feelings came from, Rara. I guess that I'm just scared of loosing you. That has always been my fear. And now, with these new people, your new family, it just seems different." Aurora placed her hands on her boyfriend's cheeks and said, giving him a soft smile, "Nothing will ever change between us, our love will never be broken." Scott smiled softly at his girlfriend and brought her into a kiss. However, the moment was ruined when there was a loud evil chuckle coming from behind the trees. Aurora pulled away, startled, and frantically look around while Scott pulled her behind him, standing in front of her protectively. A young man, wearing a dark, black cloak, came from behind the trees and smirked at the two teenagers. He stepped towards them and said, "Well, well, well, well.........what do we have here? Seems like the long lost Cullen has returned." Scott growled at the man and snarled, "Who are you and what do you want?" The man chuckled evilly and said, "Our little quarrel isn't with you, boy. I suggest that you step aside and leave while you can. This could get messy." Scott glared and replied, holding his arms out to shield his girlfriend even further from the man, "I'm not going anywhere. You should be the one to leave us alone." While the man spoke with her boyfriend, Aurora cowered behind her boyfriend, afraid of the man in front of them. As she stood, the young girl had sent a thought to her uncle, knowing he would've heard her with his power, telling him that they were in trouble and needed help.

Not long after, while Scott continued to have a stand off with the man, the others had arrived and surrounded themselves around the teenagers. Edward, Sam, and Paul stood in front of the two teenagers, teeth bared and all. Sam growled and said, "Who are you and why are you trespassing on our property?!" The man smirked and replied, turning to look at Edward, "I think you all know exactly who I am and why I'm here." Edward stood still in his spot, looking at the man, and didn't respond. Aurora turned to her uncle and said to him, confused, "Uncle Edward? What's he talking about?" Edward spared a glance to his niece but turned back to the man. The man continued, "Edward, do be a good man and tell Emmett, Rosalie, and the others that the Volutri look forward to our next meeting with you all? This time, you won't be able to outrun us or hide away." Aurora watched in horror as the man sped off, leaving everyone tense with disbelief and worry. She turned to Edward and said to him, as Bella ran up to him, "Uncle Edward, who was that?" Edward didn't respond to his niece and said to Bella, "We've got to get back to the house and tell Carlisle. He'll know what to do." Bella nodded and replied, "I'll go get Jacob and Renesemee from the house. Renesemee will be safer with Jake during this time." Aurora only watched from her spot next to Scott as her aunt and uncle made a plan. She turned to her Uncle Sam and said to him, "Uncle Sam, who was that guy? What does he want with me?" Sam turned to the girl, who he called his honorary niece, and replied, sighing, "It's best if you wait till your parents told you, kiddo. All I can see is to be careful around those who surround you. These people who are after you, they're not the ones you want to be around. They're evil and corrupt. Just promise me you won't make any accusations with them." Aurora nodded slowly at her uncle then watched as he walked over to the others. Edward came up to his niece and said, "We're going back to the house, Aurora. We need to tell the others." Aurora only nodded and followed after him, turning to look back at Scott. Scott only gave her a small smile
and an soft nod, silently telling her that he would be right behind her.
