For the next couple days, Aurora had fallen into a stable routine with the Cullen clan. Whenever her biological parents, aunts, and uncles went to school, she would stay behind at the house with Esme. Esme would asked what Aurora liked to do when she was back at Beacon Hills and the two would do it together, getting to know each other a bit. Just in those couple days, Aurora had felt comfortable enough to call Esme 'Nana'. She had also gotten comfortable with calling Edward and Jasper 'Uncles' and Bella and Alice 'Aunts'. As for her parents, she was only comfortable with calling Emmett 'Dad' but she hasn't called Rosalie 'Mom' yet. On this particular day, Esme suggested that she and Aurora could go shopping together. The two walked around in an art supply store since Aurora had mentioned that she loved to draw and paint. Esme walked with Aurora and said, as Aurora looked at markers, "So, tell me about your school back home. Do you have many friends?" Aurora smiled and replied, nodding, "Yeah, quite a few actually. My brother......*Her smile faltered a bit before regaining her emotions* My adoptive brother and I are a part of a small group with my boyfriend. We're all pretty close with each other. There's Lydia, Malia, Allison, Liam, Isaac, Derek, Scott, Stiles, and me." Esme smiled softly and said, "Sounds like you're quite the group, huh?" Aurora nodded and replied, "Yeah, we are. I can imagine that they'll probably come up here and check on me one day. Our fall break is next week. You all wouldn't mind if they did, would you?" Esme chuckled and said, "Of course not, sweetie. They're more than welcome to come. How are things going with your parents?" Aurora paused at looking at the package of markers she had picked up and let out a sigh. Esme watched the young girl carefully and said, "Is everything okay between you guys?" Aurora looked at her grandmother and replied, "I'm still trying to figure out why they gave me away, Nana. They won't tell me. Are they hiding something from me?" Esme sighed and said, "I think it's best if we all sit down and talk about it together when we get home. Is there anything you want to get while we're here, sweetie?" Aurora then turned back to the alcohol markers she had picked up and said, "These and those water markers we came across earlier if that's okay." Esme smiled softly and replied, wrapping her arm around the girl's shoulders, "Of course, sweetheart. Then, we'll get some lunch and head home."
Later that evening, after everyone had dinner, Esme decided to call a family meeting. Aurora was seated next to Renesmee on one of the couches in the living room. While they sat together, Aurora showed her cousin pictures of her friends at home, with Nala at their feet. Carlisle turned to his wife who sat next to him and said, "What did you want to talk about, Esme?" Esme turned to Emmett and Rosalie and replied, "I think it's time that we told Aurora about our family history. She's old enough to know and she deserves to know. And Emmett and Rosalie have to be the ones to tell her." The couple in question stared at their adoptive mother in hesitation and were stunned by Esme's sudden decision. They wanted to wait till Aurora was used to being in Forks to tell her about their vampire side and their hate for werewolves. However, now that Aurora was desperate for answers, they had no choice but to tell her. Emmett turned to Esme and said, "We'll tell her but we'd like to do it in private with you and Carlisle." Carlisle nodded and replied, then addressed to the others, "We can talk in my study. You all can wait out here but no eavesdropping." Aurora stood up and said to her biological father, "Why would they eavesdrop, Dad?" Emmett just gave his daughter a small smile and replied, "We'll talk about in Pawpa's office, okay, kiddo?" Aurora followed her father into her grandfather's office and took her grandfather's seat at his desk. Carlisle closed the door behind him and said, "How about we start from the beginning, hmm?" Aurora turned to her grandfather and replied, "Is this story gonna start with you, Pawpa?" Carlisle chuckled and said, "Actually, yes. You know about vampires, werewolves, and witches, right?" Aurora did know about them, considering that she was an Alpha female over her boyfriend's wolf pack since he was a werewolf himself. Also, some her friends were werewolves and other supernatural creatures. She didn't want to lie about not knowing so she figured that she should also tell her own secret. Aurora slowly nodded, causing everyone to be taken back, and replied, "Actually, yes. My boyfriend is a werewolf himself and he is the Alpha of his pack and I'm his Alpha female." Emmett's eyes widened in shock, as did Rosalie, and said, "But, you're human." Aurora nodded and replied, "Yeah, Dad, but Scotty wanted me to be apart of his pack and since we are dating, he made me his Alpha female. My adoptive brother was possessed by a demon for awhile but we cured him. Some of my friends are werewolves too." Rosalie sighed and said, looking at her daughter, sneering at the thought of werewolves, "That would explain the werewolf stench on you." Aurora turned to her mother and replied, "What does that make you?" Rosalie smiled softly and said, coming over to her daughter, "We're vampires, honey. When you were born, you were completely human as you are now. Your father and I.......we were worried that you wouldn't have any signs of being a vampire. But, when you didn't, we knew that we had to be careful with our vampire strength." Carlisle said, coming over to his adoptive daughter and granddaughter, "Then, one day, when you were a couple weeks old, we got a visit from a member of this vampire clan, who is in charge of vampire law, called the Volutri. They wanted to investigate your birth to see if you were an immortal child, meaning that you were bitten and turned into a vampire. We were all worried that they might take you away so we couldn't risk that. That's when your parents made the decision to take you to the adoption agency." Rosalie crouched down in front of her daughter and said to her, "Your dad and I wanted to give you your best chance at a good life where you didn't have to question everything or look over your shoulder for danger."
