Terrified.
Afraid.
Alone.
Frightened.
Fearful.
All of this and much more were all crammed inside of me. I heard every word, could hear every voice, understand every sentence. But they didn't know that. They thought I was unconscious. Maybe I was. I couldn't seem to open my eyes, I felt like I was in a dream, yet I could hear every single word that surrounded me. I remember hearing sobbing in the distance, and recognised it as Mum. I distinctly remember the words "serious", "operation", "brain" and "forever". It was then that I realised I was in a hospital bed. I wanted to scream and let them know that I could hear them, yet I couldn't seem to form the words. My mouth wasn't working. I was alone.
