"Hey, Jordy."
Seriously? I blame God.
"What Maria?" I hiss and turn around. Maria says "Me and Tracy here, you know Tom's first relationship, and me his longest relationship we were thinking that.. We're happy for you." "And I'm sorry for calling you names." Tracy adds. "Right." I say and turn back around, obviously not believing them.
"What is your problem, Jordan?" Maria asks and pulls me backwards. "You're my problem. You've always been and always will!" "Oh Oh, someone's got anger issues." Tracy says in a baby voice. "Okay, you know what? I'm better than this." I say and walk outside, and straight up to Tom.
"You look mad." John says as they stop discussing. "What happened, doll?" Tom asks.  "Maria and Tracy happened." "What did you do?" "Nothing I walked away." "For real? Wow.."

I stayed with Tom for a while but eventually my intrusive thoughts won and I went back in the kitchen. If they start drama again, I'm ready. I got myself a drink and sat on the counter. The house was fuller than at his birthday party. After a while a guy sits next to me. "Do I know you?" I ask with a hint of disgust in my voice. "Do you know what kind of things your boyfriend is doing? Like what kind of businesses he's doing?" "No, why?" "You should know, even if he's sweet to you now... Sooner or later he will become the guy he is and start to treat you badly. I'm talking about manipulation and abuse." It's hard for me to not believe him, because what I've heard about Tom was always the same. But I try and don't believe him. "I don't think my relationship with him is any kind of your business, isn't it."
"He's already manipulated you! Look Jordan you've been untouchable all your life and.. and you're the most stunning woman in Tokyo. It's your trademark to be independent and untouchable. But you lost that with your useless relationship with a..." "A what?" "Your boyfriend's in something, it's kind of like a mafia but not." "So Tom is in the mafia?" "Kinda. Well it's not really mafia but it's really alike." "If you're trying to get me to break up with him, then you've underestimated me." "I'm not, but what I'm trying to do here is... you deserve someone who fills your standards."
"I think I can fill her standards, right doll?"
I look up and see Tom. Leaning against the wall with a big smirk on his face. "You definitely can, my love." I say, get off the counter and then walk over to him. "I never thought you were that naive, Jordan." The guy says and leaves. "What did he say?" Tom asks. "He told me about your businesses and that I should stay away from you." "You're not going anywhere." He says and chuckles.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that my mother appeared out of nowhere and she knows that I'm "together with" Tom. Neither the fact that it took her 8 years to come back. I get it, that she didn't want to come back until it was safe, but it was safe when I turned fifteen. Now I'm twenty-three. Eight damn years. She's not my mom, not anymore. Call me selfish but I won't accept her into my life anymore.
