chapter 15 (EDITED)

After their argument last night, Vittoria resolved to find as much about Heidi Koch as she could.

She decided to call up Damien, a person who had been with Nickolas from the start, who would know much more than what was on the internet, which only had a mention of their engagement briefly, it had been more like a union between two powerful families coming together to accumulate even more power as a united front. The classic story.

So in her lunch break at work, Vittoria called Damien. "Hey Damien," Vittoria said.

"I knew you would call him today." Nickolas, undoubtedly spoke from the other end.

"What the hell, Nickolas! Where is Damien?" She spoke in a loud and surprised voice.

"He's got work to do. Lots of it in fact." Nickolas said in his stoic voice.

"Well I need to speak to him," Vittoria said as walked up to the cafe just outside her law firm.

"I'm afraid that's not possible." Nickolas said.

"Damn you, Armani!"' Vittoria said, as she cut the call, the waiter on the counter looked at her, a little terrified. She smiled at him, trying to look as normal as she could, she retreated back.

She decided she would just meet Damien in person.

Vittoria sighed, placing her order quickly and grabbing a seat in the corner, typing away furiously, replying to some work mails, keeping her mind off of thinking about Heidi and Nickolas and it worked for the most part until evening came and the thought of going back to the penthouse made her upset, so she decided to head to Gianni's place.

"And I don't give a damn about my bad reputation...."

The music system was at blast as she entered Gianni's apartment.

"Hey babe." Gianni said with a grin. "Hey." Vittoria said as she walked into the apartment and sprawled out on the couch.

"what's gotten into you, why so dull?" Gianni asked as she turned the volume down a bit. Vittoria sighed. "Call Ada here too, if she's free."

"On it." Gianni said as she got her phone, and dialled Ada, "Grab your ass here." Gianni declared, and spoke some more before she kept the call.

"She's on her way here, but what the fuck happened?" Gianni asked as she sat next to Vittoria.

"What happened was that Nickolas's ex fiancé showed up at our home yesterday who I had no clue existed. And I don't want to talk about anymore about it tonight, let's go out and have fun." Vittoria said as she got up from the couch.

"Ex fiancé? what the fuck?" Gianni asked bewildered.

"I know- she was such a bitch but Nickolas is an even bigger asshole, but I don't want to talk about it right now. I'll tell you everything later, I promise." Vittoria said. "Let's go out!"

The club, they headed to was an all exclusive members only club.

They easily got in once the manager at the reception realised that it was Vittoria Armani who stood in front of him.

The music was loud, it was all low lit, and plush velvet seatings, there were many famous people present, models, actors and business tycoons.

"You sure this is a good idea?" Ada asked Gianni, looking at Vittoria who was already one drink down. "Don't worry, I have Arnold on backup, just in case, we need help to get her out and safe home."

Arnold was one of their friends, who was a professor, but he was also a professionally trained boxer, which cam in handy ever now and then. His parents were extensively wealthy, he had palaces in the countryside, so he followed his passion-academics, teaching.

"Alright." Ada said as they joined Vittoria on the bar again.

"Let's do some shots!" Vittoria said. Famous last words before they all were crazy drunk, dancing on the floor.

"Oh my god! Let's go!" Gianni yelled as the girls danced.

Everything became extremely hazy after a point, for Vittoria.

Was she on glass number two, three or four?

Vittoria chuckled.

In a plethora of faces, one pair of eyes were trained on hers.

He was letting her have this moment.

It was incredibly hard to stay away from her.

It was being chained to shackles.

Staying away from her was poison.

An image flashed in his mind, from years ago. The image was clear as day- Vittoria, dancing and laughing and him, staring at her from afar, without her knowledge.

There was so much he wanted to tell her- but how could he possible tell her everything without sounding like an absolute possessive  maniac who had been obsessing over her for a very long time?

Just then, his eyes flickered to a man who was inappropriately looking at Vittoria and slowly making his way to her in the crowd.

Nickolas' steps were charged and directed.

He reached the man before the man could reach Vittoria.

He grabbed the man and dragged him across the club and to the fire exit.

As soon as they reached the empty corridor right outside the fire exit, Nickolas punched the man straight in his face.

"What the fuck, man?!" The man asked, terrified by the look on Nickolas' face.

"Don't even look at her ever again." He asserted, through gritted teeth, as another punch landed on the man's face.

"I won't! I won't!" He said as the man ran down the corridor.

He entered the club once again.

His phone rang in his pocket. He brought out to see who it was.

It was Heidi.

Again.
