Something There

Enjoy!

Kari let out a sigh as she breathed in the cold morning air. It was Monday and Kari knew Tea was going to ask questions about what happened during the weekend. Kari walked into the double gated door and saw Yugi happily laughing with his friends.

There's something sweet and almost kind
But he was mean and he was coarse and unrefined
And now he's dear, and so unsure
I wonder why I didn't see it there before

Kari let out another sigh as she watched Yugi run up to her.

"Hey good morning Kari"

"Good morning Yugi"

She said putting on a brave face as the others soon joined as they walked to class together.

She glanced this way, I thought I saw
And when we touched, she didn't shudder at my paw
No, it can't be, I'll just ignore
But then she's never looked at me that way before

"Hey so what did you and the Pharaoh did together?"

Tea asked as they entered the classroom to wait for the teacher.

"Tea how bad is your crush on Yami?"

"What makes you say that?"

Tea asked confused. Kari let out a sigh as she looked to Yugi who was busy talking with Joey and Tristan.

New and a bit alarming
Who'd have ever thought that this could be?
True, that he's no Prince Charming
But there's something in him that I simply didn't see

"It's just from what you told me, he did something different"

"Like what?"

Tea asked.

"He kissed my hand, he held my hand and he kissed me"

Kari said slowly as she remembered the kiss and her secret.

Well, who'd have thought?
Well, bless my soul
Well, who'd have known?
Well, who indeed?

"It can't possibly mean nothing though right?"

Kari said with a laugh seeing Tea's sad face.

"Tea it's not what you think, probably the Pharaoh has a lot on his mind and he just needed a relief"

"Which is your lips right?"

Tea asked coldly.

"It didn't mean anything, come on let's not let one guy come between us"

"That's the thing you don't know about him, he's not just some guy, he's my hero, my crush and he's mine and mine alone"

Tea said storming out of the room angrily.

And who'd have guessed
They'd come together on their own?
It's so peculiar
We'll wait and see
A few days more
There may be something there
That wasn't there before

Kari let out a sad sigh as she watched her best friend leave. Yugi soon walked up to Kari.

"Hey, I don't know if right now it's a good time but Yami wants to speak to you"

Kari simply nodded as Yugi changed places with Yami. Yami smiled as he saw Kari and walked up to her holding her from the waist before holding her close before closing the gap between them. Kari pushed Yami away from her with tears staining her cheeks.

"I can't do this with you"

She said before running out of the classroom.

You know, perhaps there's something there
That wasn't there before
There may be something there
That wasn't there before

Once out in the hallway, Kari saw Tea crying and immediately ran up to her and embrace her.

"Tea, you have to understand there is nothing going on between us, you have to believe me"

She cried. Tea wipes away her tears.

"That's the thing Kari, there may be something there that wasn't there before"

"You tell me about fate all the time, and if this is my fate then I can't stop it"

"But what about me?"

Tea asked with a cry.

"I would rather give up my own happiness for my best friend who has been with me through thick and thin"

Kari said proudly with a cry as she felt her heart ache at the little lie. Kari and Tea hugged each other tight before letting each other go.

"So, let's not let anyone get between us. Right?"

"Right"

She said confidently. Together they soon entered back into the classroom laughing together.

"We should go to the coffee shop ourselves"

"Sounds like a plan"

Kari said with a laugh while Joey, Tristan, Bakura and Yugi simply looked at each other in confusion.

"Gosh, I wish I understood women"

Joey complain.

"Hey so what did the Pharaoh wanted with Kari?"

Tristan asked Yugi. Yugi simply shrugged.

"I'm not exactly sure myself but Kari left him hanging and now he resided back into the puzzle seemingly sad"

He said quietly to himself as he looked down at the puzzle in confusion. The teacher soon arrived as the students quickly got to their seats before getting ready for their lessons. During class, a random note was thrown at Yugi's desk. He opened it up.

'I need to speak to Yami during lunchtime'

-Kari

Yugi looked up to see Kari looking at him. Yugi frowned as he quickly wrote on the note before throwing it back at her.

'Is it okay if I be there during the conversation? I need to know what's going on'

-Yugi

Kari looked up at Yugi and nodded.

'Maybe he can help make sense into the Pharaoh better than I can'

She thought before a ruler was slammed onto her desk by the teacher.

"Would you care to share about what you and Mr. Muoto were discussing?"

The teacher asked causing all the students eyes to go on them. Yugi slouched on his seat in embarrassment but Kari remained seated with a smile.

"Of course. We were discussing being partners for our next class period assignment"

She said proudly with a small lie.

"Wait, we have to find partner's?!"

Joey asked in shock before quickly digging into his backpack before facing Tristan.

"Quick, be my partner for next class period, alright!"

"Sure, but we have gym next, moron"

Tristan said calmly as he caught on to Kari's fib.

"Oh right!"

Joey said loudly as he calmed down. The teacher then looked at Kari for a brief moment.

"I guess another phone call home, will have to do for now for disrupting my class, again"

The teacher said walking away leaving Kari to smile sheepishly before letting out a sigh in relief.
