August POV
I walked into class. Brooklyn was sitting in her usual seat. Her crutches were on the floor. I walked over to her. "You good?" I asked sitting in the chair beside her.
She nodded. "You sure?" I asked looking into her eyes.
"Yeah n!gga." she said taking her phone out her pocket.
Flashback
When the boy came in the room, he started to yell at her. Brooklyn stared at me. "Wassup bruh?" I asked standing up. He looked at me.
"Who the f*ck is you?" he asked looking away from Brooklyn.
"The name is August." I said smirking.
"Well August, why the f*ck are you in here with her?"
"She's my date." I said after I got closer to him.
He smiled. "Oh you can go on dates with this n!gga but you won't answer my calls?" he asked Brooklyn.
"I was going to answer but-"
"Then your mother tells me that you died. I was so f*cking worried." he said leaning down to her.
"Who told you she was here?" I asked. he never looked at me.
"Come in." he said as if someone knocked on the door. Some boy came in the hospital room. The boy who came in here yelling looked at him. "Remember him Brookie?" he asked smirking.
The fear in Brooklyn's eyes went from scared to terrified in .1 second. "What are you doing here?" Brooklyn asked.
"You know you missed me." the boy said smiling.
"I'm so f*cking confused right now." I said as the boy who just came in walked up to Brooklyn. Then the doctor came in.
"who are you?" he asked the boys.
"I'm Darrien and that's Damien." the second boy that came in said.
"You're Damien?" I asked. The first boy smiled.
"Yeah."
"Aye mr doctor man," I said. "This boy right here, he needs to go."
"OK."
They kicked Damien out and Darrien was still there. "You too." I said. He left.
Flashback over
"What did Darrien do?" I asked.
"It doesn't matter."
"It does matter if you were terrified when you saw him." I whispered because the teacher came in.
"How do you know how I felt?"
"I saw it in your eyes." I said.
Brooklyn POV
"I saw it in your eyes." he said. I looked at him.
"What are you talking about?" I asked lying about how I felt.
"I know how people look when they're terrified. I've saw many people terrified."
"Really n!gga."
"Yeah."
"Uh huh."
"Just tell me what happened?"
"i don't want to." I said when he looked down at my legs. Although it was Fall, it was pretty warm outside so I had on shorts. I covered my legs with my jacket. But August moved it.
"What the f*ck happened there?" he asked loud.
The teacher stopped talking. "What was that Mr. Alsina?" the teacher asked. August never looked at him.
"Brooklyn what the f*ck happened?" he asked pointing to my legs. It was scars on my thighs. Then there was a burn mark from a cigarette near my knee.
"I don't wanna talk about." I mumbled.
"Mr.Alsina, please go to the office."
"Mr. Igloo I'mma need you to stfu right now. There is more important than your f*cking class." he said looking at him. "There is cut scars on her leg.... That is more important than learning about some sh!t that happened 1000 years ago." he said. Mr. Islin looked at him.
"Mr. Alsina and Ms. Hurd, can I speak to you in the hallway?" he asked after a moment of silence.
I grabbed my crutches and wobbled into the hallway. When I got out there August was looking out the window. Mr. Islin looked at me after he wrote something on the pass.
"I completely understand what you've been going through. Please don't hurt yourself anymore. Please go talk to the counselors." he said handing me the pass. "Mr. Alsina please go with her." He walked up to August and whispered something in his ear. Then August followed me smiling.
August POV
"I know you really care about her. Make sure you take care of her. She's a really sweet girl. She's been through a lot. I can tell. Don't let her get hurt again." Mr. Islin said going back in the classroom.
