Half Way There

September 27 Part 2

August POV

I was walking behind Brooklyn. She was moving slowly. But she is on crutches. She stopped before we got to the guidance office. I walked around to face her.

"Do you wanna know why I do this?" she asks.

"Yes." 

She wobbled over to the nearest bench. "When Damien started acting weird, I thought it was because of me. So I decided to cut myself so I could eventually die." 

When she said die. My whole heart dropped. For someone as beautiful as she is talking about killing their selves over somebody, it is horrible.  I put my head in my hands. She sat there for a second before struggling to get up. I stood up and helped her. 

"You wanna know why this affects me so much?"

She nodded slowly. "You are such a beautiful person who is always in pain. I hate that. It may seem like I don't care about people unless they are giving me something, but you don't give me anything but a hard time and I'm still messing with you." 

She chuckled. "See that's what I like. That smile of yours. It's bright and beautiful." I said looking at her. 

She stared at me. "N!gga don't act like that." 

"What am I acting like?" 

"Like you really care." she said trying to stand up. I helped her up. 

"Look if I didn't really care, would I still be here right now?"She started walking again. Not answering my question. 

"I had people do this and still hurt me in the end." she said stopping in front of the guidance door. I sighed and opened the door. 

"So your saying that you were hurt multiple times.... by who?"

Mr. Lionel came up to us. "Hold on August I would like to talk to Brooklyn for a little bit before you come in." Brooklyn looked at me and then went into Mr. Lionel's office. I sat down in the chairs in the 'waiting area'. I say 'waiting area' because it was in the corner of the office. I sat there bored asf.

I got on my phone and played Subway Surfers. Then I saw Ty and Chris text me. 

Chris- N!gga she good? 

Ty- You still gone buy me lunch?

I ignored Ty's message and answered Chris. 

Me- Idk I haven't even gone in with her yet. 

Then Chris text me back. 

Chris- Alright give her my best wishes and tell her I love her.

Then Ty texted me.

Ty- Since you wanna ignore a n!gga, you still buying me lunch.

I silently laughed.  Then text Chris. 

Me- Ard I'll tell her everything besides the loving part. That's too much. 

Then Mr. Lionel came out. "Uh Mr. Alsina, she said she wanted to talk to you alone. he said stepping out his office. I looked in the office to see Brooklyn staring at me. 

I got up and went in the office. Closing the door. "That other boy who was in the hospital, he raped me."
