Charumati's laughter echoed in their dorm as Bali stared at her in disbelief. Just how silly could she be? Their little daughter, Drishti played better pranks on him than her. Well it wasn't exactly a prank. She was laughing at his scared face he made when all of a sudden many water droplets fell on him as soon as he woke up. They were from Charumati's locks. She generally dried them in their room only.

Bali woke up late that day, given he came back from a colossal war. He was going to sleep in his home, in his room and on his bed after a long time. After finally getting to sleep in his comfortable place, with his home, he felt at peace.

Seeing her laughing continuously, a small smile etched onto his face before he finally gave up and laughed with her. He pulled her beside him and hugged her, "I don't want any misunderstandings to prevail between us, priye. Don't try to be anyone else's saviour for I don't want to end up losing you." he said, dread reflecting in his tone.

After what all happened in the recent weeks, and his reaction towards her during that time made him realise that not only her but he too was not right in doing what he did. In all these years of their marriage he knew her enough to know she cannot not be serious about such things, but still misunderstandings took place and kept them away for long.

Charumati understood his feelings for she too felt the same. She learnt her lesson indeed. Whilst she was trying to be the saviour of the relationship between two families, she forgot that she was risking the relationship that actually tied them together.

She wrapped her arms around him tightly as she nodded with a soft hum. The two of them stayed in each other's arms, not willing to leave. After a while, they reluctantly broke the hug as they heard soft knocks on the door. They smiled at each other, knowing it was Drishti.

A few days passed by and they were content. They were happy with the life they were living. Charumati came out with her feelings about how she felt upon visiting her natal family with Drishti the other day.

Bali felt anger rushing through his veins as he learnt how his wife was marginalised. However, he kept calm and tried to reason with the state of their minds at that time. He advised her not to go there without him or until and unless there is a formal invitation or a necessity. He did not want his wife to be humiliated again, especially in the presence of servants.

Though Charumati was unhappy with his decision, she knew why he had taken it. He never put any restrictions on her. Nor his family ever did so, for that matter. If he was doing it now, she knew the reason behind it.

The trees grew taller and their shadow now was casted longer. Drishti was now eight years old.

One such day, as all the ladies served food and finally sat down with their husbands and children, Bali's mother spoke up. "It has been years now, and I don't see any hope for a grandson now."

Charumati instantly stopped eating as she heard her mother-in-law. Her mind went back to the conversation they had almost six months ago. She advised Charumati that it was high time they had a second child and bless the family with a grandon already. However, Bali overheard them and pleaded with his mother to never force them again. They would have another child when they desire to.

Sensing what his mother was indicating, he narrowed his eyes to her. She took a deep breath and added, "If... If there is any problem, then we can look for another bride."

The ambience quickly changed from a playful one from before to a serious one. Charumati felt her heart racing as she heard her mother-in-law. Was she so desperate for a grandson that she is overlooking the lovely granddaughter she has and her child's happiness?

"Watch your words maa. I don't want any 'slip of tongue' in this matter." Bali said quite seriously. Drishti shifted closer to her mother and held her as Bali watched the duo.

Tears filled Charumati's eyes as she shifted her gaze to Bali who was already looking at her. Looking at her tear filled orbs, Bali felt angry at his mother, and even at himself.

"I don't want this topic to ever come up again maa." Bali declared.

"But you are the only son of the family, putra. Even your younger sisters have sons now. You have to continue the lineage and for that you have to have a son." His mother argued.

As anger took him over, Bali quickly folded his hands in front of the food and got up. Charumati followed him as he walked out.

On the other hand, seeing his beloved granddaughter and son and his consort sad, Kritavarma shot a displeased look to his wife.

"I am sorry you had to listen to that, priye." Bali apologised on his mother's behalf.

"Maa was right, arya." Charumati said, taking Bali by surprise.

"You want me to remarry?" He asked bewildered.

"No arya. But you have to have a son for the lineage."

"Don't say this under any pressure, priye. Nothing would happen until and unless you want to."

"I am serious arya. And I am tired of listening to all of this. I don't want a co-wife now."

Bali sighed as he hugged her, understanding her inner turmoil.
