Charumati's heart thumped loudly as she began to break out in sweat. It was not common when you see such a serious scenario after her father came back home after this long while. And everyone staring at her as soon as she entered added on to her anxiety. She began wondering if she committed another nuisance act and is now in trouble.
Her chain of thoughts was interrupted when Shri Krishna called her. "Charumati! Come here!"
'Charumati? Charumati and not Dulari? I am definitely in trouble!' She thought and slowly made her way to her father who signaled her to sit beside him. She followed the instructions and her mind wandered to all the mischievous acts she had pulled out recently but couldn't find anyone of them to be as serious as they all were right now.
"Pitashree I still don't think it is the right time yet." Expressed Pradyumna.
'Right time for what?' She wondered.
"Well if we look into this matter in that manner, it would never be the right time." Said Rukmini, making an attempt to calm him. However, Pradyumna still was unsatisfied but before he could put forth his argument, his father interrupted him. "We should let her decide that for herself. Right?"
Pradyumna sighed accepting his defeat in the argument whereas Charumati remained puzzled and kept shifting her gaze to everyone present there. Her gaze, at last, settled on her father and she kept starring at him as she knew he was the only one who can answer her at the moment.
Shri Krishna smiled softly and uttered, "I don't want you to freak out Charumati but we are thinking about your wedding..."
A while passed and there was no movement in the room. Everyone stared are her, expecting some sort of reaction but she kept staring at her father with a completely blank face.
But irrespective of the blank face she had put on, her mind and heart experienced a whole hurricane by just the thought of marrying and going away from her family. It wasn't like she never thought about her marriage, she did. Just like many other girls, she did too. She did imagine how her husband would be, how her in-laws would be and how grand her wedding would be.
But now, when the matter has actually arose, she is scared. Scared to go away. Scared to leave her family. Scared to go to a new family.
Instead of giving others her reaction, she simply got up and left the dorm, dragging Lakshmanaa with her. She walked towards the other end of the palace, the room which allows her to look outside of Dwarka. Once reached, she left Lakshmanaa's hand and started her interrogation.
"Did everyone already know?" She asked.
"Uhmm... I guess... But not me, I promise!"
"What do I do?" She pleaded for an advise.
"What?" Lakshmanaa cross-questioned.
"What do I do about the marriage? What do I say? I-I don't even know who the person is..."
"We wish to marry you to Bali" Charumati looked at the entrance and saw her father standing there.
He looked at Lakshmanaa and smiled. The latter smiled back and left the dorm, leaving the father and daughter duo alone. Shri Krishna moved towards her and continued, "He is Krtavarma's son."
"Are you so sure that I should marry him?" Charumati asked cause she knew her father would not make any wrong decision for her.
"Yes Dulari. I believe that you will be happy there. And that's the closest where you can be. They live in Dwarka, and you know that." He said. "But the final decision is all yours."
He left the dorm, leaving his daughter all by herself. She pondered upon the thought of marrying Bali. She saw him just once, long ago. They were just kids back then.
After a while she simply came to a conclusion that if her father wants that for her, it is for the best. For her, it was the first time her father wished something from her and she knew its for her as well.
She moved towards the hall where everyone was gathered and found everyone's eyes on her.
"I am ready for this marriage."
A simple sentence broke everyone into joy and all of them cheered. A few got tears in their eyes at the thought of her getting married. Shri Krishna decided to go himself along with his wives to deliver this message and to get the auspicious dates.
Sweets were distributed everywhere and a lot of donations were made. Dwarka was filled with joy and everyone jumped into the preparations.
