It had finished raining and the sun was starting to peek through the gray fluffy clouds. The smell of wet cement made me feel excited for all the puddles I was about to jump in on the way home. School was finally done for the day. It may just be my first year in elementary school, but I was ready to go home and lose myself in my video games for the weekend. As I was ready to step out of school, someone had just slapped a yellow bucket hat on my head. "Do you want to get scolded by Miss Flower for forgetting to wear it again?" I looked over at the boy who had just helped me get out of trouble once again. It has not been the first time he has helped me. Ever since I arrived last year in Japan, we haven't left each other's side. "Oh sorry! Thank you for reminding me again, Shota!" I smiled at him as we started to walk towards our houses.

When I found out we were going to attend the same school I got so excited that I accidentally bursted some electricity out of my body and caused a small power outage in our apartment complex. I was only 6 years old and I was already going through so many changes. New country, a new language, a new quirk, and a new family I never knew about, made me feel so anxious. Entering a new stage in my life and having someone who I knew, It left me feeling secure and content. "Are you coming over after dinner?" I nod my head in excitement. "Yea! Let's play smash bros!" He growled at my suggestion as I giggled. He first loved playing with me, but since I was a fast learner, I learned how to win with almost every character. "I'll go easy on you this time. I promise!" Before he was able to respond, we heard someone yelling for us. "Mims! Shota! Wait up!" A smile grew on my face as my brother lifted me up and spun me in a circle. "I tried to get out as early as I could so I can walk the both of you home! How are you doing Shota?" Toshi kneels down to Shota with his hand up expecting a high-five. Shota stares at him with his usual stern face and continues walking, leaving him hanging as I burst into laughter.

We made it to the second floor of our apartment building. We live on the same floor, just two apartments down from each other. The three of us came to a stop when we saw a woman in a suit and what seemed to be two bodyguards accompanying her. They were standing outside my apartment talking to my dad. "I wonder who they are?" my brother asked. I felt like someone had frozen me in place. They looked so scary and I didn't want to go home. I wanted to just turn around and go somewhere else until they left. Unfortunately the lady noticed us and looked our way. Her green eyes lightened up when they landed on me. Like if I was her prey and she was the predator. "Oh my, you must Michelle? Aren't you just adorable?" Her wicked smile made me shiver and I moved behind Shota. "Are you ok?" he whispered to me. I could tell by his tone he was worried about me. I grabbed on to his hand and started to trace the small lines on his hand while I was staring at the lady approaching us. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. My name is Madam Vice President. I'm from the Hero Public Safety Community. Which means, I work with pro-heroes. Pro-heroes with amazing quirks just like yours." Shota held my hand tightly when he heard how she emphasized my quirk. Almost as he was validating the fear I was feeling.

"Hey Shota! I can send over Michelle when we're done here, ok?" My dad scratches his head nervously. It made me feel even more nervous at my dad's reaction. "We'll be done before you know it." Madam VP gives him a cold smile as she takes my other hand. I looked back at my best friend one more time before the distance broke us apart. He stood there watching over me until my front door got between us. I sat at the dinner table with my dad, my brother and Madam VP, while the two body guards were standing behind me. "Your dad told me that you have an amazing quirk, why don't you tell me a bit more about it?" I looked down avoiding her scary face, trying to find my voice. "Her quirk is amazing! I've told her lots of times she would be an amazing pro-hero one day! She just needs a lot of practice to get there and honestly I believe in her!" I turned over to Toshinori who was just beaming in pride. He was quirkless and had big dreams of being a pro-hero, but was it even my dream to be one? I felt guilty. Someone with a quirk like mine would definitely be good at it, but here I was. A lucky kid with a quirk that they don't care about. "I see, well what if I tell you that we would love to help you improve on how to control your quirk. We have the best instructors on site. Think of it as a very early head start for your hero training. What do you say?" Hero training? When did I even say I wanted to be one?
