I should have stayed back

The sun shines into my room through my thin blinds from my window. I battle to open my eyes as my head is pounding with a massive headache. I rub my eyes as I slowly sit up. Oh yea...I'm back home. I make my way to the bathroom, kicking a few beer bottles out of the way.

I washed my face and brushed my teeth while my phone was ringing in my room. I run over to pick it up.

"I AM CALLING. PICK UP THE PHONE. I AM CALLING. PICK UP THE PHONE"

Yup, that was my brother's personalized ringtone.

"WHERE ARE YOU?!" Toshi screams at me at the other end of the call.

"Good morning to you too." I say sarcastically.

"Mims, you're supposed to be at U.A right now!"

I looked at the clock hanging on the wall.

8:00am

Shit!

"Sorry! I overslept. I'll be over in two minutes." I hung up and I sped through my routine. Put some light makeup to cover my bags under my eyes, brushed my hair and got dressed. I put on a black t-shirt, black jean shorts, dark red high tops and thin windbreaker with the zipper down.

8:01am

Look at me, always getting ready quickly.

I walked outside and put on my browline black glasses with red lenses. I'm only running a short distance so I always use these. Also my hangover is still slightly killing me, so these glasses somewhat help.

I get down on a running position and launch off running to the school. I made it to the principal's office,

"I'm here!" I said barging in. No one was in the office.

Ugh where are they?! There's a piece of paper just laying on his deck, taking a closer looked it said

"We moved to the conference room. Please meet us there. - Nezu"

I looked down to my red watch I had on.

8:02am

Ugh!

I ran to the conference room and barged in.

"I'm here!" I'm not sure if I started to see in slow motion on purpose, but it honestly felt like time was holding still. I turned to my side as I'm still running into the room. Just my luck, I made eye contact with the person I never thought I would see again. His onyx eyes made me lose my breath. The room was filled with other heroes, but at that moment it felt like it was just Shota and I in the room. Shota. A name that I tried to forget how to say. His face that I attempted to not remember. Attempted to erase the feeling of how his voice made me feel comfort. I tried to forget the way he would embrace me. The way his lips would feel against mine. Most of all, I have always wanted to forget the way he was able to make me feel like the only person in the world, but at the same time replaceable.

"Just on time like always!" Nezu says enthusiastically. Snapping me back to reality. I turned to the principal and right next to him was All Might giving me an anxious smile. He knows he is in trouble because he never told me this! I glared at him, pissed off.

"Would you like to introduce yourself?" Nezu asked me as he stepped away from the podium for me to walk up to.

"Of course. Thank you." I smiled at him and quickly gave All Might another glare. I moved my glasses to the top of my head and brushed my hair down with my hands. I took a deep breath and decided to just look behind people's heads, too nervous to even look at anyone.

"I'm Michelle Yagi or also known as Volten. As some people may know, I was the #1 Hero in Mexico, but I've decided to take on this opportunity to teach here at U.A. along with All Might. I too was a student here and it taught me exactly what I needed to become a pro hero. I am excited to return as a teacher and educate our future heroes. Since my main focus here in Japan will be teaching, please call me by name or surname instead. I hope everyone here welcomes me with open arms." I took a bow and started to fight the unexpected tears that were developing. Was I scared to speak? Was it nostalgia? Are people not going to accept me?
