I went to Woodcrest High, Riley was a Freshman at my school, and I had shared the same classes with Jazmine, and I had met my closest friend there, Michael Caesar, who had dreadlocks that came down to his shoulders. He wore a Nike track jacket with a shirt that said Emcee. Caesar had shared the same views as me and listened to the same music as I did - however I couldn't tell why he was so cheerful and full of life, while he'd think I was so damn cynical on nearly everything.
But oh well.

"Caesar, what's up." I said.
"Hey what's up, Huey? What's on your mind?" Caesar said.
"Not much. Ok. A lot. Like what happened to our black brothers that died these past months."
"Yeah, I could understand you, Huey. With what's happened in Ferguson, Florida and New York. Black Lives do matter."
Black Lives do matter, I won't understand why these corrupt bastards just murder us in cold blood.
But an educated black man is the most dangerous weapon, as said by James Baldwin. However the educational system institutionalizes us, destroying our minds with bullshit social media and everything we see on TV.
Ab-Soul we are the new generation of lost souls, student loans, iPhones and reality TV shows. Kids today - we're wise, however we'd rather focus on what we see on TV.
I'd rather make a sound, instead of being silent and let my voice be heard.

"Hey Jazmine." Caesar had said as she approached me and Caesar.
"What's up Jazz? How was your summer vacation?"
"Oh it was cool, I enjoyed it, Mikey." Jazmine had said. "Heya Huey."
Heya? I was hoping that Jazmine wasn't coming onto me, cause I didn't have any feelings for her whatsoever. I had to stay focused on my studies of bring the white supremacy to an end. I did not want to have this girl, this one girl I've known since I moved to Woodcrest to come onto me. There was no way in hell I was gonna let it happen.
So I just reply with a simple, "Hi, Jazmine."
"See you in the next period?" She says.
"Yeah. See you there."
She walks off, and I continue my conversation with Caesar.
"Huey. Did you see the look on her face when she said Heya to you? Dude, I think she--"
"Don't say it, Caesar. Because I know where you're going with this shit."
It was obvious that Caesar was gonna say exactly what I thought he was gonna say.
The fuck would Jazmine say Heya for?
I mean I know she's lived across the street from me for years and shit but I don't know why she glanced at me with that smile, that grin that made her blush with glee on her face.
And my face was just blank.
Emotionless. That's what Caesar would think. Emotionless, but I'm not emotionless because I just don't like the fact that Jazmine was coming onto me like she did.
But something inside me was changing. My heart for some reason. It skipped a few beats. Maybe in my heart, and not that I wanted it to, was gaining some affection for Jazmine.

So dismissal arrives and I head home, only to find Uncle Ruckus and Granddad talking their usual talk.
"Because of the fact I work over 72 jobs, Robert, niggers always complaining cause they can't even go out and get one motherfucking job. No wonder niggers ain't shit. That's why I thank white Jesus for my success. Fuck a black Jesus." Ruckus said to my granddad.
"Damn it, Ruckus, I had to work goddamn 16 jobs just to make sure that the bank wouldn't foreclose on my house. Now get the fuck out of my house to cut my grass, you one eyed nigga-hating bastard."

Ruckus leaves the house to cut the lawn and I talk with Granddad.
"Did that other little nigga get his education today Huey?" Granddad said.
"I'm not sure, Granddad."
Riley enter the house, just as we had our conversation.
"Riley, where the hell have you been, little nigga?"
"Granddad, I was out chilling with my niggas Rummy, Ed III, and Cindy."
"The fuck you doing with them? Boy didn't I tell you to stay away from them? All you do is get into trouble. Well since you deliberately disobeyed me, I'm gonna beat your little ass since you didn't wanna go to school and learn some shit in school!"

The doorbell rings. I open it to find Jazmine at the door. Did she follow me?
"Heya, Huey."
She shoots at me with the same thing she said in school. Was she gonna greet me like this all the time?
"Hello, Jazmine. What do you want?"
"Well, I wanted to see what you were up to. Do you wanna go to the tree?"
"I'd have to tell my granddad I'm leaving, Jazmine."

"Granddad! Is it ok if I go outside with Jazmine?"
"Since it is the weekend, don't come home too late, boy! Cause if you do, Imma put my foot in your ass or if I'm on a date, don't come back till I text your phone!"

As I head out with Jazmine, Granddad proceeded to beat Riley for skipping school.
