A forty something, mum of one beautiful daughter. Lived in 4 countries so far. English is not my native language but it's a beautiful one. I started learning it when I was in high school and never stopped since. For me, writing in English is a great way to keep learning.
FMM2310 for the book club submitted her story Ten Years .
"You can't lay out ten years on a table like you arrange Scrabble letters" - Patrick Bruel.
Edward, an aspiring actor from London, was flying west attempting to conquer Hollywood.Leïla, a young marketing executive living in Casablanca, was heading to San Francisco for a week of corporate training. She almost missed her connecting flight via London. He was not supposed to be on that plane. But fate has a way of bringing people together, and as they sat next to each other for the eleven-hour flight, they talked about their hopes and dreams and shared their most intimate secrets, persuaded they would never in a million years meet again.
Fast forward ten years later as fate meddles one more time, bringing them together on the top of a hill overlooking the London skyline.
But is it possible for Edward and Leïla to pick up where they left off?Things to look out for while reviewing my story:
Would love to know if the first chapter is engaging enough. Does it make you care about Leïla and Edward? If not, what would you recommend to have instead?
I'm also writing in 3rd POV omniscient and would love to know if it comes through, or not.
And of course, any feedback on anything and everything is always welcome
