Rae was in the parking lot sobbing whilst Miguel comforted her.
"But.. He did nothing wrong!" The girl said mid-tear.
"Hey it's fine, you can come stay with me." Miguel told her.
"T-thank you." Rae smiled, as he walked her home.
Rae had this strange feeling in her stomach. She had only known Miguel for a day yet they already felt so close, almost like a brother to her.
"And here we are, mi casa! Well, mi apartamento."
"I should probably pay more attention in Spanish class then." Rae chuckled to herself. Sometimes jokes were the only thing that could help when something was bothering her.
Miguel opened the door to greet his Yaya.
"¿Ya tienes novia? Buen trabajo chico." His Yaya said.
"What'd she say?" Rae asked.
"Nothing, don't worry." Miguel went red. "Come in."
Miguel's apartment was really homely. It was full of warm tones and was much tidier than Rae's. Upon entering, the pair saw Miguel's mom.
"Miggy, who's this?" She asked.
"Hi, I'm Rae. I live few doors down."
"Well Rae, I'm Carmen. Make yourself at home!"
"Mom, I was wondering if Rae could stay the night. Her dad's out for the evening."
"Oh sure Miggy! You can sleep on the couch and Rae can have your bed."
Rae looked very flustered by that.
"I'll take the couch, I insist."
Rae popped back to her place to get some pyjamas, then laid down on the Diaz's couch. It was comfy, much more than theirs at home.
As she fell asleep, Rae looked at the stars. She remembered her dad saying to her on her sixth birthday, "If I'm ever away and you feel sad, remember that we are always looking up at the same stars."
That got her tearing up again.

Rae woke up and thanked Carmen, said goodbye to Miguel then went back home. She was awaiting the return of her dad.
There was a knock on the door.
Rae opened it, knowing it was..
"DAD! I missed you so much!" Rae pulled him into a hug.
"Missed you too kiddo."
They walked inside and sat on the couch, whilst Rae interrogated him.
"Soooo.. What happened?"
"Not much."
"Be specific."
"They took me into an interrogation room. I told 'em what happened. They put me on probation and left me in a cell for the night."
"Probation??"
"Yep. Not supposed to be 'round kids for a while. Probably shouldn't even be here with you."
"Maybe try not to beat up annoying teenagers and it won't happen again."
"First of all, they were pussies. Second of all, I had to make sure they didn't kick your ass. I knew I should've taught you karate from day one."
"No thanks."
"You're going to at least learn the basics one day."
"Did you not see my punch?"
