While Johnny was out, Miguel had invited Rae over for some food. Miguel's grandma was cooking, and they were just talking in his room.
"Don't stress too much about karate, you're doing amazing. Plus my dad said you're his best student." Rae reassured Miguel.
"I'm his only student. Also, I'm not stressing. In fact, I'm totally calm." Miguel claimed as he was jab-punching the air.
The teenagers heard a knock on the door.
"Miguel, pon la mesa para la cena." The voice said. It was his grandma.
"I'll be right there. Almost finished." He responded. Rae laughed.
The voice muttered something, then Miguel stopped punching.
"C'mon. Food's ready." Miguel took Rae to the table.
As they sat at the table eating, the door unlocked. It was Miguel's mother, Carmen. Miguel's grandma greeted them all, placed her bag down and sat to eat.
"So, have you two decided what you're going as for the halloween dance?" Carmen asked.
"I might just wear a leather jacket and jeans then say I'm Orin Scrivello. Plus, it's using things we already have at home so it's not too hard."
"That's great. Miggy?"
"Well, I was thinking Deadpool, but the costume's a little pricey." Miguel said.
"No way. I love Deadpool!" Rae exclaimed.
"Well, how much is it?" Carmen asked.
"Oh, it doesn't have to be Deadpool."
"You want a Deadpool costume? We'll make you a Deadpool costume!" Carmen chuckled
Rae heard Miguel's grandma mutter something in Spanish again, but she had no clue what was being said. Guess she should be paying a bit more attention in Spanish class. Or take French.
"Oh, Miggy! What happened to your hand?" Carmen asked, concerned.
"Um.." Miguel tried to think.
Yet again, his grandma muttered something that made Miguel say, "What?"

The next day, Rae barely made it to the dojo. Her dad promised her that he'd get her some chocolate if she went, which convinced her to go. As Miguel punched the dummy, Miguel cheered him on.
"Shit." Johnny muttered, entering the main dojo.
"What is it?" Rae asked her dad.
"Hey, you don't happen to have any friends who wanna learn karate, do you?" Johnny asked, then paused.
"Who am I kidding, you don't have any friends. Sorry."
"He has friends. He has me, and Demetri, and Eli-"
"Do any of those pussies want to come to karate?"
"Dad. They're not pussies. Demetri has been coming to my birthday parties since I was four, you love him."
"He's a good kid, I guess. Probably pussy karate-wise though."
"Oh I give up."
"Hey, sensei, when am I gonna learn to do some kicking? I saw a YouTube video of a guy breaking boards, and it looked badass." Miguel questioned Johnny.
"Yeah, no shit. Kicking is badass. But you're not ready. If I don't get more students in here, I won't be able to teach you anything."
"You've thought about advertising, right?"
